If we have the chance to draft Rb A Peterson, the Cardinals should sprint to the podium like they did last year with QB M Lienart.
I will be happy with:
OT J Thomas
OT L Brown
DE G Adams
LB P Willis...to a lesser degree
We will be able to draft one of these three and I will consider it a good #5 pick. But, if someone bites on QB B Quinn, and we get a shot at AP; RUN TO THE PODIUM!!!

at 5, and Levi, I will break something

he is borderline top 10, and taking him at 5 is WAY too high

I hate to say it I agree.

AP is a stud. Just take the star player and deal with it later.

Your dime your dance floor, but I believe you are overreacting. Brown is solid. Don't be included in the 40% who will dislike the pick.

AP+Q+Fitz+Matt=Championships!!!

Not with the current OL. We will not be successful until we fix the OL. We need a LT and a RT. Wells is not the long term answer at RT. He is average at best. The other OL positions are still question marks. AP will not give us a championship by himself. The game is won and lost at the line of scrimmage not in the backfield.

Thank goodness the draft isn't over when we take AP--there's still a lot of good players that can help out on the line.

You don't pass on a player of AP's calibre, IMO, just because your line sucks. If AP is there, Thomas is likely gone. If that's the case it's a no-brainer in my book.

Peterson + Boldin + Fitz + Lienart = If were lucky, 8-8. We need an offensive line. We'll never win without one. We need a left tackle a right tackle (If they are stupid enough to move Wells) and a left guard, again, if they move Wells there.

I would add that we have plenty of needs on defense. If we are going to a 3-4 in the next year or two then we need linemen and linebackers. We also need at least one good corner.

Finally, I don't think Peterson is all that great. You can get 1,000 + backs in later rounds.

Guys--taking AP doesn't mean they're ignoring the line! It means they have a chance to get a very, very, very talented RB.

As long as we're using equations AP>Levi Brown, and IMO, AP>Joe Thomas (though if Thomas is there, I can't fault them for taking Thomas).

Thomas>Peterson. I don't see Peterson as better than Bush or Cadillac Williams. Furthermore, we need Thomas. I'd say we need two, perhaps, three starters on the offensive line. I'm not sure we will get that later in the draft. I have this fear that we will take Peterson and not get it done with regards to the offensive line.

No matter how much you desire to have 5 pro-bowlers on the O line, it isn't going to happen. No NFL team will commit that kind of money to only one phase of the team. The O line simply needs to be adequate. If we can achieve that, the rest of the offense will shine. Towards the end of last season, our O line became adequate. We need to at least maintain that level of adequacy and our football team will start winning on a regular basis.

Is this adequate? Ross and Gandy are not starters and R. Wells is not a guard.

I don't see Peterson as a can't miss prospect. He's not Bush or C. Williams who was a better prospect. Furthermore, we have huge holes with our offensive line and our defense.

If AP is available at #5 and we pass everyone on this board will be saying we
could have had him but took so and so. Peterson will be one of the top 2 or 3
players in this draft. Imagine the Cards having a scoring drive of 1 play for 80
yards, by AP. When is the last time they had that, never!!!!

I agree about AP, but I dont think the Cards can afford to invest that much cap space in the RB position.

Screw cap space. Most would say the Cardinals will be better this year, but not a Playoof team in 2007. In 2008, I don't see RB Edge still being Playoff caliber. The Cardinals will not compete for a Championship with Edge as the starter. Nothing against Edge, but the team is 2 - 3 yrs away. As I expect the team to get better, I don't think the Cardinals will be drafting this low again for a while. I thnk AP might be the last franchise RB we get a chance to draft. -

totally agree, i just got my sidelines mag from the cardinals and having Peterson on the cover and that article on the website makes me more confident they would take him at 5

You must have either

a) forgot how bad our O-line is
or
b) never see our O-line in action

Even Barry Sanders couldn't break a 80 yad run w/ our O-line let alone Adrian Peterson

first of all, the blocking schemes are completely different now with Whis and Grimm. They are nothing like the schoolyard schemes coming from Denny, Everett Lindsay and Steve Loney

btw, you must not have watched Barry a lot. He played behind much worse talent at times and still had ridiculous numbers

you're talking about a running back that's almost as electrifying as Bush was last year

if the comparisons are even remotely accurate, and the Cards draft the Eric Dickerson reincarnate, we should feel so lucky

why not? Edgerrin and Marcel are both 29. James has been in the league 7.5 seasons (approx .5 coming from his ACL tear)

he has already peaked, and his career is coming to an end soon

address the oline after round 1, if Peterson is there at 5. Overseas, do you
really think Thomas/Brown will be a better NFL player than AP. That's the
whole point. Think of the talent on this team before Green showed Graves
how to address the draft, it sucked!!! Draft the best player on the board,
plain and simple. That is my opinion.

As good as AP is McFadden is better. That cat is going to be a MEGAsuperstar. Tank the draft, tank the season and take McFadden! ;)

Young Card, you are more pessimistic than I am, and that's rare. You overstate our weaknesses and are a bit too certain about Peterson, in my opinion. If you've seen him a lot, I cede to your better knowledge.

Feeble, I just love your handle. Your football opinions though need to be filled out a bit before we can judge your acumen.

Until I see different that is a scary lineup there .. that will not be the starting Oline when the season begins .. IMO .. I hope Matt is ready to take some hits ...

Is it just me or does anyone else remember how many times our RBs got hit the instant they touched the ball ... ??
