The only issue I have is the two-point conversion thing. Really not necessary. Still, if you're up by that much, might as well see how your team does with it. At least I guess that is what the thinking was. Still not cool, but whatever.

Who do the Jets play next week? I hope they get spanked and not in a good way.

I suspect 2 factors in the 2 point conversion. These robotic coaches have a "chart" that indicates in a situation, what is the statistical best option. That might have been the case. The second factor might be, keep Favre happy and let him put the 2 points on his record sheet.

Thank you! I was waiting for someone to say it. It would be one thing if you guys were still down by 34 points by the end of the game but I watched the whole last half saying "Holy crap!! They're gonna come back and steal this thing!!"

The way you guys were scoring in the second half, I don't blame them at all for continuing to try to score. My philosophy on the whole "be a good sport and stop trying to score" thing is that when the other team concedes defeat and just lets the clock run out as fast as possible, then you stop trying to score. But if the other team is still trying to put points on the board, you should too. We've all been watching the NFL long enough to know that unbelievable comebacks can and do happen. The Cardinals were still running trick onside kicks and throwing the ball into the end zone literally until the last play of the game. If there was anything they could have done to get into position to take advantage of the Jets "dialing it back" they would have.

The "they're poor sports" thing sounds more like "no fair not giving us every opportunity to pull out a miracle." The logic is a bit ridiculous.

There was less than a freaking minute on the clock and they were up by 3 scores already.

There were just under two minutes left. Plenty of time for the Cards to score 3 TDs in that crazy game. Likely to happen, probably not. But anything is possible if the Cards are playing. See 2006 week 6 Monday night.

Our defense would have to hold them or create 3 turnovers AND our O would have to score 3 TDs in less than 2 minutes.

Our defense has shown zero ability to pull that off.

Do you even understand the game? I don't think so. This comment is so dumb I will leave it at that.

Give me a break... I have been highly involved in more games than you will ever have watched, Button your yap and move on.

I look at it like this, Jets need as many reps for Farve as possible. They probably should have downed the ball, but the extra touchdowns were boosters for Farve and crew.

It is what it is.

It wasn't the smartest thing to do on their part all things considered. Too bad Favre didn't get his ankle rolled again during the 2 point conversion.

Given the way the two teams were running up and down the field, I don't blame them for trying to score as many points as they could put up.

I'd also point out that if our DB's were within 20 yards of the men they were supposed to cover, the Jets wouldn't have scored so often.

after I have simmered down I agree that there is nothing wrong with running up the score. I also feel that the response should be a chop block that makes Mangini think twice about going for two with 54 points on the board.

The Jets won't even be sore tomorrow and that is a shame

There is a WORLD of difference between "running up the score" and intentionally injuring another player.

Exactly... this is amazing how it is not obvious. It was less than 2 min with them being up by 3 scores.

I can see your football invovlement... turn on tv, chug a lot of beer, pass out...

11 years as a player at a competitive level (offensive, defensive and specialty positions) including semi-pro ball, not counting years in youth football on a non-competitive level, 4 years of coaching. The rest would be as an avid fan so that part is kind of correct (roughly another 25), but I have never had a beer and don't know about the passing out thing. But I am sure you are speaking from experience.

I would put my knowledge of the game up against most not to mention the likes of yourself...

Carry on.

They deserved to get the score ran up on them today. I had no problem with it at all. If this doesn't motivate them to play ball nothing will.

At least Dockett was motivated:

“Like I was telling people on the sidelines, you remember the feeling. You remember the feeling of going up against the Jets, them putting up a lot of points on us, and one of our best warriors got knocked out. Ya’ll remember that. If that don’t fire you up for the next game, I don’t know what will.”

So if it was all academic anyway and the outcome was certain, why were the Cardinals throwing the ball into the end-zone trying to score instead of just laying down and conceding defeat? I mean after all, "there was less than a freaking minute on the clock" and they were down by "3 scores already". If it doesn't matter, then why did they risk injury to key players (see Anquan Boldin) if it didn't matter?

Were the Cardinals being poor sports or does that only refer to the other team?
