Would You Sign Russell Wilson to Backup Kyler Murray in 2025?

Listening to sports talk radio in Pittsburgh last week, I heard an intriguing possibility with Russell Wilson. They opined that, should he fail to have a big impact in the playoffs (and he failed), not only would the Steelers not want him back as a starter, but he may get no offers to start. They thought he would probably retire rather than be a backup.

Now, I think it's likely that another team would sign him to start, out of desperation, or he would retire if he could not start. My question is, if he would be open to a backup role where the current QB is on shaky ground, would you want to sign him to backup Kyler Murray?

I think I read somewhere that he wants to play another 5-7 years in the league. I don't see him retiring anytime soon.

I dislike Russell intensely, and he has a lot of the same issues as Murray, but he also has had a higher ceiling than Murray. He also has a somewhat similar play style.

All for this move.

Actually gives us a legitimate backup and pushes K1.

We also don’t need to waste a pick on a QB.

Wilson will never do it but dreaming is free.

He's done-ish. He fattened/beefed up like Kyler and is now and shell of his former self. Took away all the things that make him great back in the day.

If we were able to trade Kyler for value, Wilson should be the bandaid.

He’s basically a Kyler clone as far as production is concerned, with his 11 starts extrapolating out to 3800 yards, 25 TDs, 5 INTs, 250 yards rushing and 2 TDs.

You get twenty more yards per game rushing with Kyler, but the INTs cancel that out.
