It actually sounds like a typical "deal" amongst NCAA coaches. They all aspire to have one of these deals. If you have strong alums and boosters, $$$ are no obstacle to get/keep a coach.

Ah, more evidence big time college sports are rotten to the core. Nothing surprises anymore.

I guess the only thing I see wrong with this is that Rutgers is a state school so by law he has to disclose his income. Otherwise, who cares if an alumni or booster gave him $250,000? Or are they implying the taxpayers paid the $250,000 and they just funneled it via a booster? Either way, there is probably a "recruiting fund" that boosters pay into (Usually in small amounts of $1000-$5000) that the school can use basically at their discretion.

Unless it was earmarked funds in the state budget I doubt anything will come of this.
