...written arguments by Thursday evening in the Maurice Clarett case.

The NFL brass are not stupid. Filing their request for a stay in New York got them under Ginsburg's legal jurisdiction. As a liberal, she may be less likely than some of the court conservatives to strickly uphold the antitrust laws.

Regardless, it appears this will all be resolved prior to Saturday's draft.

Uh isn't a liberal more likely to strickly uphold the antitrust laws. Aren't liberals less sympathetic to corporations and more sympathetic to individual rights.

skkorp,

Ginsburg is the Supreme Court Justice who presides over the 2nd Appeals Court which is the body who granted the NFL their stay. That is why it is in NY.....it has nothing to do with the NFL brass pulling a "slick manoever".

Then why did Mike Williams file his case in Washington? That's a serious question. I am legalistically ignorant.

Venue shopping is common. Attorney's will always look for a way to get in front of the court most favorable to their case. It could be that the NFL could file or be sued in any jurisdiction where there is an NFL franchise.

Where's Northern Card when you need him?
