I love Dunn so far. He’s got a high ceiling. But let’s be realistic, he’s 22. He’s not a one and done guy. He has subpar handles. Scottie pippen is a stretch. Pippen was a good ballhandler and facilitator in addition to being a good scorer and excellent defender. I think Dunn can be a top level defender and a good scorer. He’s already shown the ability to improve his outside shooting. But developing the handles and playmaking chops that pippen had is highly unlikely.

I think he looks a lot more smooth out there compared to earlier in the season.

Above are his stats compared to Pippen's rookie season, but I'm more impressed with how Dunn flows on the court. Just always seems to be in the right place. I enjoy watching him more than anyone else on the team by far.

Even though he was not a "one and done" guy you have to admit that there appears to be way more to his game then what was "billed" off his college tape. Who really knows what his ceiling is?

I think Dunn looks like young Jimmy Butler. Butler also entered the league at 22 but barely played his rookie season, 42 games and less than 10 minutes on average. So I pulled up his second season when he was a clear rotation player like Dunn and there are some similarities. They are also built the same, bulky 6'7" wings.

he's more rodman than pippen imo - built like both tho and is getting more aggressive on offense so who knows
Well, he is starting to figure out he can be a great rebounder so I understand the comparison - but he is already a much better offensive player than Rodman.

He can be damn good if he keeps improving.

Assists and steals favor Pippen by a lot.

It's so hard to compare players that are 30+ Years apart. Look at the 3pt shooting alone. Pippen averaged 1 attempt every 3 games and a make every 10. That's insane. The game was very different overall and the interior focus led to more steals and blocks because everyone was packed inside the 3pt line.

For sure. He’s got more offensive game than anyone expected. But for the most part having tight handles is typically something you master younger in life. I know cheese points to kawhi getting better handles, but that’s an outlier.

He is going to have to learn how to shoot free throws. Hard to play as a slashing player and get by shooting under 50% from the line.
