I have to admit he does have great vision and follows his blockers well. Quick through the hole. Good change of direction and doesn't seem to lose much if any speed with a change of direction.

He just may be a very good pick.

I'm usually not real big on highlight reels, but those are all runs Timmy and Beanie don't make, and most are against some pretty good teams.

More good Highlights, Thought Cards needed to go somewhere else, So after Round 1 and 2, Cards have the arguably the Top player in the draft and the 2nd best RB Prospect in the draft. Cards Have failed miserably when taking a player on need alon, if Peterson and Williams wind up being studs there could be alot of people eating crow, Dude has some wicked cuts in the backfield, hated the pick, but the more I see this dude runs he grows on me.

I watch more Va Tech games, and LOVE Ryan. He is going to be an absolute stud.

He was one of the guys that Mike Golic was talking up before the draft as a real steal for someone....

That said, what the heck are we thinking taking a RB in the 2nd???

I'm willing to bet NO ONE had us taking any RB in the 1st 3 rounds this year.

I have to wonder if Beanie has some sort of significant injury situation that we don't know about. If not, we have real competition at RB and CB...

Go Cards!!!

I think there has been a few runningbacks taken since we picked up Williams, so I'm pretty sure he would have been gone soon after if we didn't pick him up.

I will admit my ignorance to this player's ability.

My biggest question is not how good this running back is. My biggest question is why did we draft a RB ?

Is he THAT good ? He better be better than Hightower, and Wells, IMO, to justify the pick.

This team has NO pass rush, and IMO, have a severe lack of depth and talent on the offensive line.

Thus I question the choosing of this RB.

Doesn't dance much, looks like a good pass catcher out of the backfield, sheds tackles, good vision, and hits the holes quick. The only thing I don't like is it looks like he's a little careless holding the ball. I think this kid is going to be a good back for the Cards.

IMO this is a THT clone. Totally neglecting huge needs at OLB & ILB is a freaking crime!!!

Can't argue with you. I agree that we needed defense much more than offense. I am just hoping that he will work out.

It's hard 2 run the rock when your team is down 28-3...but we do have a fabulous secondary!!!:bang::bang::bang:

Quick, Shifty, Intense, Great cut moves to the 2nd level only

Durability Concerns
Fumbles at a good clip
DE's & LBers' run him down from behind consistently.

I think we already had his Strengths and Weaknesses covered with our current stable of running backs.

Should he be able to beat 2nd and third level defenders in a sprint? WTH dude?

So 5 fumbles in 600 carries, none since 2009?

Combined: 6 fumbles, 3 lost in 09 and 10.

2009 - 293 rushes - 5 fumbles - 3 lost
2010 - 110 rushes - 1 fumble - 0 lost

Honestly.... He may be better than Timmy. But is he so much better than the Beanie, Hyphen, Hightower combo? Or just Beanie/Hyphen?

You are either a homer or just kidding yourself if you think he is anything more than another 2nd round RB.

Or maybe you are just pissed that you didnt get who you wanted you are completely undervaluing him.

There is a reason why experts like Mayock have said this is the deepest RB group in 10 years coming out in the draft. RB's have been devalued in the draft now that it is a passing league and has been talked about as nauseum yesterday and today and is a reason the scouts have said that it is no knock on Ingram for lasting till #28. Its just a sign of the times.

I watched a ton of Va Tech games.... Including the ones he was too injured to play in. He averaged 10 attempts per game his last year due to injury.

He runs low & hard, but is not overpowering in any way, and he fails to show break away speed.

He has not shown a clear ability to pass block effectively or consistently. And you know that is big for us since we will be down 50-3 by halftime most weeks.

On the positive side,

He is explosive to the hole.
Great cut ability with little speed degradation
Very patient.

I think he will have happy feet and try to cut and shake when he sees the millimeter sized holes our poopy O-line will provide him.

I hear you Shane.... And I will probably grow to love R. Williams.

My issue is much deeper than that. It is clearly our FO's inability to evaluate talent. Newton was rated higher than Peterson? Ryan Williams over the dearth of pass rushers available in the 2nd and 3rd? Ignoring the most important position on the field (QB) because of a wink wink agreement between a FA, or even worse IMO, ignoring the absolute disaster that is our offensive line.

CTCardinals78 summed up my feelings more effectively I think:

4 RB's in the last 5 drafts and the running game is still crap.

8 LB's and the LB corp still sucks

4 Olinmen taken in 5 drafts Oline sucks

2 DT's taken for the purpose of playing NT, one is now a DE and took forever to develop and the other rode pine most of last year

3 TE's drafted in 5 drafts for an offense that rarely uses TEs effectively.

This staff either sucks at either evaluating talent and/or developing talent. Now talk of bringing in Bulger as the QB????? 2011 is going to be another long year.

Trust me I feel your guys pain and this is hard to take I agree.

However for decades I have watched this team draft for need and it has murdered us. I'm willing to give the draft on talent regardless of position way a shot. See how it plays out?
