Color me skeptical. I see him running through holes that won't be there in the NFL and there were not too many runs where he outran defenders. If he can't outrun defenders on a consistent basis in college, no way you can do it in the NFL.

Judges say you are not allowed to use that phrase anymore. :) "I am skeptical" works just fine.

I also don't see many runs where there is NO ONE on the second level to make the tackle. You see lots of runs like that in the NFL go the distance. Also quite a few of his "caught from behind" runs are attributable to all his lateral moves to avoid would be tacklers allowing defenders to catch up.

I think the best comparison I can see is another Williams, DeAngelo Williams. They are damn near the exact same size and weight have very similar running styles. Both are patient, can make great cuts, and are hard runners. DWill is definitely more powerful, but he also ran at 214lbs in college (217 now) where Ryan was at 202lbs. He is up to 212 now, so he should be a stronger runner with us. Neither of them have elite top end speed and won't run away from everyone very often, but that definitely hasn't stopped DWill from being a damn good back at the NFL level. Not everyone is Adrian Peterson or Chris Johnson. If it was that easy to outrun everyone on the field there would be more 1400+ yard RB's.

To each their own, but DeAngelo Williams was one of the best college running backs I have ever seen. He was all Memphis had, still performed at a high level, and took the Memphis program to levels that they rarely, if ever, see. Other than having the same last name and some shiftiness to them, I don't think that is a good comparison. I think DeAngelo is one of the top college RB's of all time. He had alot of Barry Sanders to him.

The guy I think he compares to is Joseph Addai, and that's not bad, but Addai is probably a better receiver. At best he's a Joseph Addai, at worst he's Terrence Flagler, an old Clemson RB that never made it but did finish his career with the Cards.

watch this run by DeAngelo in college. It doesn't get any better:

I wasn't really comparing them both as college runners (I didn't watch much CFB when deangelo was with memphis), more as someone in the NFL that ryan williams reminded me of. I don't think Ryan will be as good as Dwill has been at the NFL level, but I think he will be a good back nonetheless.

Exactly my opinion, same skillset as Deangelo. Fantastic vision and ability to fall forward to get the extra yard. North South runner. Can plant that foot and explode the first ten yards, but doesn't have breakaway speed, just like Deangelo.

Dwill is defenitely better, ryan will not be that good, but he is a footballplayer and will be very solid.

Still too early to pick him, there are better players available here.
