The New Orleans Saints have been extremely active this offseason when it comes to meeting with 2025 NFL draft prospects, as they continue to build their list of players to choose from with their selections. This list includes likely top-of-the-first-round candidates all the way down to priority undrafted free agents, which is the typical type of split as they want to be able to choose their favorites at each level.
One of their recent meetings that has been reported was with Texas Tech offensive lineman Caleb Rogers, who started nine games at right tackle in 2024, two at left guard, and one at right guard, displaying his versatility as a prospect to start in various positions. He recently spoke in an interview with Adam West of the Saints Block Party Podcast regarding his meetings with the Saints and what he thinks of the team.
"So I met with them at the Senior Bowl, and at the combine, y'know and I thought the meeting went great, I met with their assistant O-line coach (Jahri Evans). I think that I really enjoyed the way that he installed plays, and I think I did a great job being able to just give him straight back to him. It was a lot of board work, that was something we consistently did with a lot of teams, but with them, I think it went really well. So I really enjoy them, I like to watch a lot of Erik McCoy, that's the same thing, that's a guy that just has great ability at that position, so there are some things that he can do that you wouldn't necessarily coach off of. So y'know I wanna try and take some of those things to my game too, and yeah I think that would be a good spot for me."
Hearing that he spoke with Evans is a good sign, as he is one of the few coaches who was retained in the recent regime change, and has been an exceptional coach in his time with the Saints (not to mention one of the best offensive linemen in franchise history).
Rogers played in 61 games in his collegiate career, all for Texas Tech, and has played all across the line at various points throughout his career. He would give up four sacks in 581 pass blocking opportunities in 2024, which all things considered is solid given how much he had to change positions. With 55 career starts, he ranks second in program history in the category, only two away from the record-holder Jaylon Hutchings.
Overall he would be an extremely intriguing prospect for the Saints to pick up, given his mix of versatility and experience, he could be a valuable asset to their offensive line long-term.
