You have no idea what Deuce means to Saints fans. He is probably one of the most loved and respected players ever to put on a Saints jersey. Not only was he great on the field, but he did a tremendous amount of work in the community in the years after Katrina. He never wanted any publicity for his good deeds either. He is a humble, humble human being. He was injured and told he would never make it back to the NFL. Not only did he make it back, but he had an unbelievable year. I will NEVER forget the last time the Saints were in the playoffs in NOLA. He carried the entire Eagle defense on his back into the endzone for a touchdown. His heart was a lesson for the city, which was also injured and working hard to comeback. It was a sad day when he left the Saints after his second injury. Still the honorable man he is, he bought a full page ad in the local paper to thank the fans for their support. The last years have not been kind to Deuce. He owned a car dealership in MS and was caught in the recent economic meltdown. He had to declare bankruptcy. This is a great move for the Saints, for the fans, and for Deuce. As a little old lady just said on the radio "Thank you Jesus!".
