The New Orleans Saints have met with what feels like half of the prospects in the 2025 NFL draft class, and that is a good sign as they continue to do their due diligence on the players available. They have done everything from meetings at the major events to top 30 visits, to private workouts, and they added to the group of prospects in the latter of those recently.
A report from Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston shares that the Saints are among the teams who have visited with Oklahoma State linebacker Nick Martin, and were the only team he reported to have had a private workout so far.
Despite missing much of 2024 with an injury, 2023 was an absolutely exceptional season for Martin in terms of production, posting 140 total tackles (83 solo, 57 assisted), 16 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, 2 interceptions, a forced fumble, and a recovery. He would lead the Big 12 in both types of tackles and total tackles that season as well, only adding to how impressive that season truly was for him.
He also performed at the NFL scouting combine recently, and did well in the events he participated in, with a 4.53-second 40-yard dash, 1.54-second 10-yard split, 38-inch vertical jump, 10-foot-3 broad jump, and 26 bench press reps. That's good for a Relative Athletic Score of 8.52, but his lighter build at 5-foot-11 and 221 pounds makes it tough to compare him to other linebackers. Hence this private workout. Overall, Martin may be an extremely high-quality prospect, and most definitely someone the Saints should be checking in on during the process, so getting a private workout is a good start.
