There are questions surrounding Breece Hall's future with the New York Jets, and the New Orleans Saints should call their old friend, Aaron Glenn, to test the veracity of these concerns.

Hall is entering a contract year, and Glenn plans on taking a three man committee approach to their running attack next season. New York could look to get a return on Hall, especially since they're in range to grab Ashton Jeanty in the first round.

What's the rationale for New Orleans making this trade? Kellen Moore has constantly a lot out of his running backs. Saquan Barkley's monster year showed you how quickly talent can translate to production in Moore's system. Expecting 2,000 rushing yards out of Hall would be unrealistic, but he would likely be very effective. Hall has logged 119 fewer rushes than Alvin Kamara since he entered the league, but he has 30 runs of 15 or more yards, with a personal-long of 83 yards. Kamara only has 22 of them and his longest carry has gained just 27 yards. There's a lot to be said for running on fresh legs.

A backfield of Kamara and Hall would give the Saints two rushers who are rushing and receiving threats. That duality would give the Saints a strong rushing attack, and would allow the offense to tip their hand on if it's a rushing or passing play based on personnel.

Secondly, Hall is more of a sure bet than a rookie you'll get in that range. You'll likely have to give up a package centered around a late Day 2 or Day 3 pick. Hall has already flirted with crossing the century mark. The combination of proven production and low trade compensation should intrigue the Saints.

The only downside would be a new contract would be on the way in 2026. If Hall flourishes in Year 1, however, paying him should be the least of the Saints worries. The Saints will have more money available next offseason, and running back contracts take a massive drop off after Christian McCaffrey. There's a better chance Hall has a really good year and gets around $15 million opposed to being close to $20 million. If the Saints don't extend him in 2026, they could get a draft pick back as a compensatory selection in 2027.

But the goal would be preparing Hall to take over from Kamara once he calls it a career when his own deal expires in 2027. Even if there are concerns about paying Hall in 2026, the upsides outweigh the downside, and the Saints should at least inquire about his availability.
