The Rams improved their line a lot by adding Whitworth & Sullivan. The others were rookies I believe.
None were rookies. And there is no Whitworth on the market.
Whitworth was a top 5 LT.

First I was agreeing with your earlier post that you need two good olinemen. When the Rams signed Whitworth & Sullivan in 2017 they had Havenstein & Brown who were drafted two years prior. (I was off on the years they were drafted) Saffold was often injured & their line was crap until they added two good players in Whitworth & Sullivan hence proving your point.
Sullivan fits the solid lineman mold. It's Saffold and Whitworth who are considered better players.
The Rams are going to have to find a LT soon. No small feat. It took them a long time to get a guy as good as Whitworth.
Good lord ... give it upSo, before Larry they had $62 million ...and they spent 16.6% of the cap avail on Larry. Crazy!

When is the last time Larry 'made a game' or was 'the guy'? It's been at least 2 years since he ever dominated any CB. Larry is no longer the meal plan, he's a supplemental slot receiver.
I'm a season ticket holder and I've loved watching Larry - but everyone in our section (107) agree's Larry isn't 'it' anymore and it's time to move on....or at least pay him like everyone else would have a $4-6 contract.
As I read here some of you wouldn't have cared if they spent 100% of the cap on Larry, because well he's Larry.
Saffold is pretty good when healthy. He seemed to be injured more than Hump prior to last year. I guess my point to support your point was the Rams had a crap OL until they added Whitworth & Sullivan. There were articles about how much they helped the younger guys learn the ropes so to speak & become better players.
Saffold has always been a pretty talented player, but he blossomed when playing with better talent.
That fits my point precisely...but I would argue that Sullivan isn't really a stud center, he fits more of the solid mold.
The year the Cardinals went to the Super Bowl, that offensive line wasn't that talented, but they stayed healthy and played as a unit. On ROTB, Walter Mitchell is arguing that the Cardinals should move on from Humphries because of his injury history. I agree, but the problem is, who are they going to replace him with? It's a tough decision, and one that probably should have been made a year or two ago.
Steve Keim is stuck in the cycle of having to constantly undo prior roster mistakes, like letting go of Massie because you drafted Humphries. Massie was a solid starting RT. You don't move on from a solid starter just because you drafted a rookie. Sure Humphries replaced Veldheer, but he hasn't been healthy enough.
My dream scenario right now and it plays off of Lance Zierlein's mock posted on nfl.com:
The Raiders are planning on draft Kyler Murray #4 overall. The Cardinals convince Mayock/Gruden that someone is trying to trade up to get Murray. The Raiders offer both of their 1sts and this years second to get Murray. The Cardinals pounce, take the best pass rusher/CB on the board and then take a young LT prospect with their second 1st rounder. Take Lindstrom with their 1st second rounder and best available receiver (DEEBO!) with their second pick in the second round.

With free agency's legal tampering period underway, the Cardinals have right around $40 million of cap space -- the most they've had in years. GM Steve Keim called it "weird" to have that much money to play with.
