My apology for posting this link if it is a website (or a similar one) that you already visit and check:

Sportrac Salary Cap Analyzer: http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cap/

We have a lot of posts going up that don't appear to check the current state of the salary cap for not only the Cards but also for the other teams.

For 2018, Cards have 27+ million in cap space and we are just below the middle of the league at #18. That number is going to impact the way the Cards go after a FA QB like Cousins (if MBSK want to go that route). Also, check the cap space for teams that are most likely to be competing against us to see how our bank account compares. Denver doesn't have much more than we do---but Elway is pretty ruthless in going after a QB that he wants.

Click on the team name and open the page showing all the current players and their cap hit:

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/arizona-cardinals/cap/

Don't be surprised if the Cards come up empty on a Cousins bid. Got to check your pockets before you get in line. Also, got to check the cap space before you demand SK 'got get' a guy when the bucks are just not there to spend.

Fun site. Guys like Mauro and Buc look like obvious, easy cap casualties. If HB agreed a to restructure it would only be 1M more than outright releasing him. I wonder if he would be amenable to that.

Another CAP Tracker

https://overthecap.com/

They have a calculator, which allows you to "cut" and then get the then estimated CAP number.

Sounds ugly to even suggest . . . but do have to consider Fitz in the cap hit?

Will he have a place on the team going forward? His 'Hines Ward' role in the slot and moving around---is that in the McCoy playbook?

I can't imagine MB allowing Fitz to be cut---but even Jerry Rice was released at the end of his career.

Question, not sure if you know, can we cut HB before he gets the $5 million bonus and still designate him a 6/1 cut?

AP, Mauro, Shipley and Dawson are no brainers to me. DBuc too at that price, but reworking longterm for about half that number understandable. Ideally restructure both Veldeer and Iupati. Possibly cutting one or both if unwilling, especially Iupati.

While we don't have figures yet, the cap numbers on spotrac for 2018 likely don't include the ~10-13 mill the cap should go up for 2018.
