Damn. I was hoping he was the long term answer in SF.

Maybe they will hire Russ Grimm--that would be doubly good for us.
I think it's step 1 in the worst case scenario for the Cards. They now hire Harbaugh and do what's necessary, one of Harbaugh's conditions for taking the job, to trade up and get Luck as their QB.

I thought Coughlin would get the ax first.

The Giants, actually, can still make the playoffs. The 9ers blew it yesterday. BTW, the Troy Smith sideline explosion sure as all Hell did not help. Mike is a dinosaur, living in the NFL of 25 years ago.

As bad as the Giants have collapsed the last two weeks, they still have a good shot at the 6th seed. If they beat the Redskins and the Bears beat the Packers, the G-Men are in. Bears shouldn't take the game lightly, as they are still playing for a bye.

My guess is that Coughlin stays.

I suspect Eli Manning will have some input on this one.

Luck goes to Carolina Panthers as the #1 pick and brings Harbaugh with him. Match made in football heaven.

Will he ever coach again? Certainly not as an NFL head coach or a head coach at any significant level but is he a capable DC?

I guess this is what happens when you bring in a "big name" without them having to cut your teeth on being a position assistant then rise through the ranks based upon merit. (IMO not that always brings success)

I saw that sideline yelling match and thought "wow, he will be fired tomorrow."

You don't have a shouting match with your starting QB on the sidelines. As a head coach the cameras are always on you. That's what the assistant coaches are for!

He's never been a DC at any level, ever. Mike Singletary was incredibly unqualified for the head coaching position. The media pushed his name as a hot candidate because he's a great interview. He was the black Dave McGinnis, only less experienced.

Hopefully the 49ers clean house and we can get their DC Greg Manusky, who knows what he's doing.

The 49ers are also in the hunt for a GM.
