according to their GM in a newspaper interview today, the Chargers definitely will not take a QB with an early pick- I know posturing takes place, but this was more like an official vote of confidence for giving Brees more time.

So that means either someone trades up (very possible- Giants in particular) or the Cards will have a crack at Eli or Ben.

IF we want Eli we need to trade up -- now! If it takes next year's number one then so be it.

could you give us a link to that please. They would be dumb to state that. I hope it's true though.

Give up next years number one, just to move up one or two slots. NO WAY!! One of those two guys will be there at 3. If not, I am content on getting the best available at CB, DE, DT. This team is 5 to 6 players away from contending for the playoffs, Hell, we are 5 to 6 away just on defense. If we trade down, a kings ransom is what it will and should cost.

I'm not saying that's what we should do, I'm saying that's the surest way of getting it done.

I wouldn't trade next year's #1 for 1 slot up in the draft. I'd stay let the raiders have him and we'll get ben roethlisberger or that Williams receiver.

Both Eli and Ben are 'projected' franchise QBs. I honestly think both will be great.

Oh Canada!
I have a friend who is very good friend with a guy who works for the Chargers and he's been saying for the last month that if they got No.1 they were taking Eli. Plain and simple.

Who can argue with those sorts of sources?

It's done, Eli, we hardly knew ya.

i thought that Marty may want to go for an impact player if this is not to be his last year - so QB is off the cards

this does not rule out a trade though it depends on who they really do want !
