Time to put this team out of its misery and send the message that the new objective is to catch up with the Brewers and Braves rather than run away from the Giants.

The plan is simple: score at least three runs in each game and we win. Simple.

The Giants' offense is anemic and we have our three best starting pitchers in this series.

The house will be sold out, rocking and the fans will be desperate. Yes the Dbacks have a chance to deliver the knockout blow in this series. If they dont, the fight is far from over, but if they do, it will be very tough for the Giants to recover.

As Ryan Roberts would say.... LETS DO THIS!

It's all divisional games for the most part from here on out for both teams (we have a series against Pitt while the Giants solely play the West from this point forward).
Certainly, we need to avoid a sweep in this series and ideally, we can take 2 of 3. Getting out of SF with a 7 game lead would be incredible. Leaving with a 3 game lead would be far too much stress!

The scary thing is that SF has been pitching more than well enough to win. It's hard to imagine that their offense will remain as pitiful as its' been since the allstar break.
Which means that as good as we've been as of late, we will most likely need to be even better starting tonight. I am thinking that it won't be good enough to simply score 3 runs and think that'll be enough... like I said, the odds are that SF's offense will snap out of this funk before the season is done.

Their offense has been sub par to wretched since last season, not just the all-star break. The only reason they're a winning team is because of their elite pitching top to bottom. It was good enough to neutralize the Texas bats in the world series. The Giants have ranked in the bottom of the majors all season in just about every statistical offensive category. Currently, they are 30th in runs, 29th in BA, 29th in OBP, and 28th in slugging %. It's not just a short slump, it's a trend.

So when I say three runs is enough to win, I'm really not joking, especially when we have Saunders, Kennedy, and Hudson pitching in this series.

San Fran's offensive woes are going to require an offseason full of acquisitions and call ups from the minors to fix. I'm not sure if they have anyone of consequence in their farm system that can hit.

TJ, their offense was certainly not at the top of the list last season, however, they were better than you think, especially with RISP. This season has been a totally different story. Their loss of Posey killed them. And whatever mojo they had last year with RISP has been mostly gone this year.
Still, it's hard for me to believe that they can continue at such incredible suckyness over the rest of this season. I think this series will be the yardstick for them. If they win 2 of 3 from us, or worse, sweep us, I wouldn't be surprised to see their offense snap out of the funk and be good enough to allow their pitching to win games again.
Or, if we win 2 of 3 or sweep them - stick a fork in them!

I'm up here and just bought tickets to Sunday's game (football prices still). Anyone know the pitching match ups for Sunday? Wearing my bulletproof vest under my Dbacks gear. :D

Anybody have a link to a stream of the game? MLB considers Vegas to be the home market of the D-Backs (among other teams), so we're blacked out here :(

Freaking Demel walks the pitcher then gives up a 2 run homer. Blergh!

Not worried about it and was never worried about it. Knew all along we would lose this game. Tomorrow and Sunday are the key matchups. Even still, if we get swept it just tells me we don't match up well vs the Gnats. Not to worry, it's not the Gnats we will face in the playoffs.

No doubt, giving up 4 to the Giants is like giving up 8 to a crappy team.

Agree. Saunders was leaving too many pitches down the middle. The ump was giving him the inside corner to righties and he kept trying to take advantage of it with fastballs. Especially to Carlos Beltran. Ugh

For the first six innings or so, Cain threw every single pitch on the outside corner. Every single pitch!

Tom Candiotti, our TV color analyst for the night, predicted that Cain was setting them up to go inside during his last couple of innings. Then, sure enough, he did.

If it was so obvious to Candy in the booth, why weren't our hitters trying to hit more to the opposite field? I am really losing confidence in our hitting coach.

I think some were... except CY of course, who hasn't gone the other way since he began his major league career....

The first inning was a killer. If they would of scored another run or two, that would of put a lot of pressure on the Giants.

You do realize that the Dbacks are 6 up with 23 to go, right? Seems as if you try and find every little thing to nit-pick at.

Competition is going to be greater in the post-season. 'Nothing wrong with a fan wanting to see his team use these games to prepare for it.

Was Tom Candiotti (whom I quoted) nit-picking?

Attack problems, not people.
