Are these guys on some reality show we're not aware of competing to see who can get serious prison time first? Henry has now been arrested 4 times, and not to be outdone, Holmes was arrested for assaulting a woman this weekend, his 2nd arrest since being drafted in the first round by Pittsburgh.

Holmes already has 3 children and apparently assaulted the mother of at least one of the children. He's been charged with domestic violence and simple assault, both misdemeanors.

ESPN said there were already rumors Cincy was considering releasing Henry over his stuff, I wonder if the Steelers are giving any consideration to not even signing Holmes if he's found guilty on this? Even if they do you can bet his contract is going to be structured to give the Steelers a quick out if he can't stay out of trouble.

Hard to say what the long term effects might be for either character, but in the end it'll probably hurt them in the places they hold most dear: their pocketbook.

Seems silly to squander the opportunity.

You don't understand Henry. No one does! He is misunderstood and that is why he continually gets into trouble. He is literally picked on, he doesnt go out and seek this type of attention.

If I were Henry's lawyer I would most certainly start suing these police departments and the people involved who have slandered his name. Chris Henry is just an ultra competitor and it isnt his fault for most of these crimes. He is being singled out because he speaks his mind and people don't understand how hard it is to be Chris Henry.

You should all be ashamed!

Thank heavens it wasn't complex assault. That would be really horrible.

I had the same reaction, somehow simple assault just doesn't sound serious, kind of trivializes a guy apparently assaulting the mother of one of his children.

Homes wasn't a troublemaker at OSU but, then again, neither was Dvaid Boston. Holmes first brush with the law didn't sound like much as there was a zealous police dpartment trying to enforce some new jaywalking laws or something like that. I believe there were hundreds arrested on something similar to what Holmes was. Now, this second thing is definitely a cause for concern. This is the first i heard about it. I think Holmes will get his head on straight and realize what he needs to do. Henry had a much worse reputation coming out of college and that is the reason for his draft stock falling. He has lived up to both his on and off field hype so far which isn't necessarily a good thing.

Should have posted the article first I guess.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Santonio Holmes was charged early Monday with assaulting a woman, his second arrest since he was chosen in the first round of the NFL draft.

Holmes was arrested at an apartment just after midnight and taken to the Franklin County jail, Sgt. Loucious Hollis said. The 22-year-old player is to remain in jail until his arraignment Tuesday on charges of domestic violence and simple assault, both misdemeanors.

Police received a call from a female who said the father of her child had assaulted her, police spokesman Sgt. Michael Woods said. While the officers were making their report at the apartment, Holmes returned and was arrested. Police would not release the woman's name or details about what Holmes was accused of doing.

Before the April draft, Holmes said he hoped he would be a top pick so he could support his three children.

Holmes, who is from Belle Glade, Fla., was arrested in Miami Beach, Fla., on a charge of disorderly conduct during Memorial Day weekend. Steelers coach Bill Cowher criticized Holmes the following week, but said he wouldn't hold the matter against the former Ohio State receiver.

The Steelers did not return a message concerning this latest arrest.

Holmes led the Buckeyes in receiving last season with 53 catches for 977 yards and 11 touchdowns. He gave up his final season of eligibility to make himself available for the draft.

I think the difference lies with the intent. If he was wailing the crap out of somebody, then I believe that is Aggravated Assault. I haven't taken a law class in forever, but I believe Aggravated=attempt at serious bodily injury, and simple=attempt at bodily injury.

Been a long time.

somebody needs to sit down with these clowns and have a man to man. Maybe they should do a shift at UPS or something to see what real work is like. Everybody makes mistakes, but when you don't know how to conduct yourself, it's just embarrasing.

My bad...should have used this: :sarcasm:

I was kinda responding to Russ coz we have talked about Henry a few times.

I have followed him since he was just a youngster at WVU getting arrested for joyriding and driving w/o a liscense, to his junior year when he left the field in the middle of the game and came back only to flip off the Rutgers student section and begin trying to make his way into the stands.

It is good to see my little man has really grown up and graduated to more "adult-type" crimes!

When I read about these two, I'm glad that we have not just one WR who has it together, but two WR that the new guys on our team can look up to and will be positive role models for all.

that's partially correct. an assault can also become aggravated if it is accomplished during the commission of another crime. it is also considered "aggravated" if attended with "circumstances of peculiar outrage or atrocity." it generally includes any assault with a dangerous or deadly weapon.

Yeah they are practically turning into another U of M ;)

At least UM won some national championships with their criminals. Ouchie is the contract lawyer so he would know for sure but I'm pretty sure when you sell your soul you're supposed to get something in return. WVU got gipped.
