Has he even signed his contract tender? If not then he can't be part of the deal if I'm not mistaken.
Interesting. You would think NFL network would know about that. Not reporting it.
There are rumors flying in the wake of the trade that sent receiver Santonio Holmes from the Steelers to the Jets that the compensation package includes both a fifth-round draft pick and running back Leon Washington.

Though we're not yet prepared to declare with 100 percent certainty that this rumor is off the mark, it's highly unlikely that Washington would be part of the deal. In order to be traded, Washington must first sign his restricted free agency tender offer. Given the apparent speed with which this deal transpired, it's unlikely that Washington inked the deal before the Steelers and the Jets worked out their trade.

That said, it's possible that the Jets and Steelers have a wink-nod baseball-style "future considerations" arrangement, whereby Washington will be shipped to Pittsburgh at a later date.

Possible, but not likely.

My bad.

Man, Tanny is having an offseason to remember. This trade doesn't make a shred of sense, unless something is missing.

Oh well, this means Mike Wallace is going to be an amazing fantasy steal.

Did they also get rid of the guy from Texas or do they just not like the way he has played?

Limas Sweed has been nothing but stone hands thus far. He dropped wide open TD's in the '08 Division Round and AFC Championship game. He followed that up last season by dropping a TD that would have iced the game against the Bengals in week 3.

Also reported by the New York Post. This is not surprising, given the kid was caught with marijuana already and is now being suspended for substance abuse of some kind.

Wow, I would have given up a 5th rounder without the blink of an eye for him. Good receiver and return man. How come we are never able to be on the other half of these types of deals?

I'm in two keeper leagues, and he was already on someone else's roster at the end of the season in both of them :(

Mike Wallace likely steps into #2 and Dez Bryant becomes a legitimate threat to take Dez Bryant.

I don't think PIT takes another guy with a diva attitude, which is why I don't see them trading for Marshall either. I think Aaerlious Benn is their pick at 18.

Have to give credit to PIT at least they're "cleaning" up their team. Teams like Dallas would have kept Holmes on the roster.

Because the Cards don't take headcases. Go look back on all of these types of trades, nearly every single one of them involves some one who seems to have something seriously wrong with them.

We don't have a fifth... and the Bidwill's are not keen on dopers. ;)

Now Bryant and Thomas come into play for Pitt, and I've read that the Ravens are hot for Ogrick... so, our possible choice at #26 may grow dramatically.

I think a lot of people were looking at Pit to take a LB at 18, so yes, yes it does.

Jets win the AFC East walking away next year, IMO.

Wouldn't suprise me at all. Sanchez must continue to develop but even with his rookie struggles they did pretty well.

I'd take Ben R in a heartbeat! He's a bona fide WINNER who thinks with his weiner, so let Whizz get inside his head!!!

Wiz already tried and it didnt work. Its why the two had bad blood when Wiz left. Wiz wanted Ben to grow up, Ben didnt want to.

I thought that even before the trade. Pats still have questions on defense and without Welker... man.

I hate to see members of the Ryan family succeed, it just ain't right.

The Jets will have to do without him for the first 4 games. His suspension just went offical. Gets caught one more time and he is out for a year. Combined with other off field issues, many teams took him off their draft boards the year he was drafted becuase of character issues, and a looming contract battle, I am surprised that Pitt even got a 5th rounder.

The only reason that Pitt settled for a 5th IMO is because of the timing of the situation and the hasty process they went through to get rid of him. If they took their time to shop him around, they should have gotten at least a 4th. ]I honestly think they could have gotten more from a team like Chicago, who has no bona fide wide receiver.

Don't you think they put it out to all teams, and that obviously includes Chicago, that he was available?

The mitigating circumstances; suspension - new contract - and the possibility that he could be suspended a year if he again crosses the line, dictated his value. I'm with Joe... they did what they could do under the circumstances, and the foreseeable future isn't going to change the dynamics.

Due to the hastiness of the situation, they probably took the first offer given to them and ran with it w/o much negotiation. I also alluded to the mitigating circumstance, but his talent alone makes him worth more than a 5th even considering the circumstances
