Sarver was on the post-game report and gave complete credit for the Suns success this season to Jerry & Bryan. He said that all the moves have been planned and made by Jerry & Bryan and he's just kinda been along for the ride. His main job so far has been working with the marketing and sponsors and the Colangi have been handling the basketball issues.

So those who are thanking Sarver (and Sarver alone) for the success have been way off.

I suppose this is a good place enough to say this.

Is it just me, or has anyone else found Sarver's antics along the sidelines and on the court, well, embarrassing.

I know enthusiasm is great and all, but doing a John Travolta sat night fever imitation with that big purple finger just goes beyond the pale. Can you imagine Jerry C acting that way?

totally and completely disagree. i couldn't love it any more. the trampoline dunk (with amare's headband), the human bowling ball, and the neck-tie wrapped around the head rambo style are all awesome.

it just continues to encourage frenzied behavior by the fans. if this rediculously rich dude is sitting in the front row going crazy, you can too! this beats the hell out of an owner sitting in a suite sipping wine with his cheese...

also, you have to believe that if he's having this much fun, maybe he's willing to pony up when it comes due.

You're way off on this. If this embarasses you, then I don't know what to say?

The entire crowd went bonkers when Sarver tried for a 3rd time to dunk the ball off the trampoline. It was great.

Geez, lighten up a bit. Life is short, man. If Sarver wants to have a little fun, what's the harm?????

I agree, Sarver just seems like a dorky Cuban wanna-be who craves the spotlight. I prefer Jerry's way of doing things. Just my personal opinion.

I would love to try the trampoline dunk. To be honest, it just makes Sarver seem more genuine.

You pegged my feelings about Sarver perfectly. Everybody loves Cuban. It remains to be seen whether Sarver will spend the money, but I would much prefer an owner like him who has a great time at the games but is not interfering with the basketball business. I laughed my butt off when I saw him on that trampoline.

I don't expect him to spend money like Cuban or Dolan, but as long as he isn't a tightwad this summer I'll be very happy with him.

personally i loved seeing sarver out there having fun. i want nothing more then for him to fall madly in love with this team and success on the basketball court.

one of the worst things that could ever happen (and it almost happened) is for this team to be moved. one of the groups that was trying to buy the team wanted to move it to new jersey or some other hell hold back east. it is important to remember that sarver is an investment banker and that he looks for places to invest in and then make money and get out. i want him to look at the suns as something to keep for the long term.

There was a fair amount of nerviousness when Sarver's group bought the team. The Colangelos have been such a huge part of the Phoenix sports scene and the Suns in particular, no one knew what to expect when the team was sold.

Last season there was concern that the Suns were no longer an attractive place for free agents to come to. Some fans were concerned that the Suns would end up like the Hawks who got a lot of cap space but couldn't get anybody to sign. Clear THAT has changed, but I think the players are seeing this guy and are saying "that looks like a great guy to play for".

Free agency is not just about the money. Most teams end up re-signing for their former team for less money as long as it is reasonably close. Players change when they see a team with a good chance of winning and an environment they think they could be happy at. A "fun" owner can't hurt.

I love seeing Sarver having a good time and enjoying the team.

I say good for him. I wish I could afford a basketball team. If I could I sure as hell would enjoy every minute of it as he appears to.

So far I think Sarver has been great, he is like the ultimate fan-owner. If he starts arguing with the refs and charging onto the court like Cuban I will not be so amused.

The trampoline thing was great, and with Amare's headband! :)

Before the 1980s, many NBA teams were corporately owned. The Suns were owned by a group of Dial big shots (not Karl Eller, though). You had to find the most serious sports junkie to find someone who actually knew who the owner was, and especially someone who knew what the owner looked like.

Cuban is the most outrageous, but it was guys like Colangelo who pioneered this "owner as the face of the franchise" thing. I think Sarver is just an extension of that new generation of owners who are personally involved, and treat their organization as something more than just an investment. I have no problem with that. I'm sure he will never act like Cuban. Two different personalities.

That's exactly right - So far, his slightly-goofy #1 fan behavior is fine with me. If he starts acting like he's the real show, that'd be different.

To me when Sarver does all those things, I get pumped too! He gives me the feel that he is a down to earth, trying to have fun just like the rest of us. Like a good buddy.

I figured that I was in the minority on this, but I thought it was worth discussing. I do cringe when I see that foam finger.

Not everyone loves Cuban. I have said often that I am so glad we have an owner that doesn't act like an idiot (Colangelo vs. Cuban). Well, now we have one. Its a free country, and it is his team, and everyone else seems to like it, so I'll live with it.

Hopefully he doesn't start keep stats on refs, and making player personnel decisions. Sarver seems to have the good sense to let knowledgable basketball people make roster decisions.

There's a huge cultural difference between Cuban and Sarver. Cuban is an average joe who hit the jackpot with one business venture. Sarver is a savvy money manager, a banker by trade, who has grown his wealth in a very traditional manner. It's the difference between Archie Bunker and any white collar on Wall Street -- there's a sizeable chasm of sophistication that doesn't change when bank accounts are compared. The fact they're both jock sniffers doesn't change that, either.

I think we should be glad to have Sarver as an owner. I am sure Donald Sterling does not have this kind of enthusiasm. He comes across as a genuine fan. I have no problem with his enthusiam. Nice to see him down cherring with the fans rather than being in the suite. He is not Jerry but he had to give the ok to get Nash and Richardson. It is obvious he wants to win.
We could not get a better person as a new owner
