The point is that the reasoning Sarver would use for wanting to move the team will not be the same as they were for Seattle. Not even close.

Although.......I wouldn't put it past Sarver to use that as an excuse should he ever really want to get out of town. My hope would be that our State Leaders would call him on this and work that out if it was ever to come to pass.

Again, I didn't mean to imply that the Seattle and Phoenix situations are the same. My point was just that the right confluence of circumstances made the one of the oldest western NBA franchises, with decades of history and a championship--not to mention a far wealthier market than the one to which it moved--relocate. The major point I disagree with is when people say that the NBA/Stern will never let it happen.

Just running with BC's idea ...
Yeah, but who brought whom to dinner? :)

BTW, didn't Gortat do that somersault chasing a loose ball? I remember the somersault, but not the play.

'Not much different than Grant Hill going to the floor 4 times within the first few minutes of the game which resulted in injury.

I can't even think about the Suns any more. It's painful. I haven't been to this board in days.

I believe Sarver is closer to being Jerry Colangelo than the Bidwills. <long pause>

OK, hopefully the laughter stopped. Now let me explain myself. The Bidwills were going nowhere because they owned the team outright.

Sarver is the managing partner, but I don't believe he has a controlling interest (much like Colangelo's situation with his 2% ownership of the D-backs). I do not know how much of the team he owns, but I don't believe it is greater than 50%. So the other owners/partners can force him out like Colangelo was with the D-backs.

That is my hope. I am concerned that the team will do just good enough to keep Sarver around. But I can't bring myself to root against them.

IMO, Sarver is hot tempered, an egomaniac, and doesn't stand for anyone to question or criticize him. He may decide the foamy finger is doing it for him anymore and sell his share. :fingers crossed:

i don't care what his controlling interest in the team is. ******* sits at center court every game, tries to make himself the center of attention... eh... i hate that guy.

My points are that he likely could be forced out by the other owners and the comments to the effect of Sarver needing to sell to new owners to lose control of the team, I believe are inaccurate.

Considering that even the most casual fan can see his incompetence, I wonder if (or why not) the other owners are working on forcing Sarver out as Managing General Partner. All it should take is agreeing on a better candidate from among the owners or bringing in a new investor with a feel for the game and obligation to its fans.

Easier said than done? Yes.

Do-able? Yes.

They don't do that. How else can you explain the tenure of Donald Sterling/

"With the 31st pick of the first round, the Phoenix Suns select Aaron Brooks!"
(video cuts to Suns war room with a few nerds on corded phones and Babby and Blanks embracing each other and Sarver counting his money.)
