If I had to choose between the two, I would take Artest in a heartbeat. The reason is that nobody ever argues that the Suns need another shooter to help out their offense. Their offense is amazing as-is.

But they DO need a good stopper who can help out Bell. Artest is the best around, and has the toughness and quickness the Suns will need to neutralize a lot of the athletic swingmen out there. He can also help Shaq pull "enforcer" duties by helping to protect Nash and some of the other smaller players.

No doubt Artest is the complete package if he does not disrupt chemistry. Miller makes the Suns a much more dangerous team offensively. I'd just be thrilled if the Suns got a player no one is talking about... Salmons.

Either one of those guys would cost Sarver A LOT in salary and Tax not only this year but next.
There is no way Artest picks up the option for next season. He is looking for a deal starting at around $14 million.

Truthfully, I just hope its someone who can get us another step forward in the elusive championship run. Even if its a guy nobody has talked about, just don't give us another bench warmer. A good roleplayer is fine, as long as he plays his "role" very well.

That's a big risk. The Suns won't have any picks to get another team to take salary off their hands if this blows up.

So much for the cheap Robert Sarver. Meet his mr hyde alter ego, "mo money" sarver. If the leaks are true its a wing who can defend and shoot. I have never been a huge artest fan, not due to ability, but to mental instability. But now that the suns have shaq, I think he may be able to play jordan to artests rodman and keep him in line. Artest would fill the wing defense gap created by the loss of marion very nicely ... if he can keep his head. I'd take pietrus in a heartbeat as well, but a well managed artest would have more impact on both ends of the floor.

I'm a little hesitant to embrace an Artest trade. He has a tendency to hold onto the ball a lot and take contested shots. His shooting is not great, either.

I would love for it to be Artest he would bring a lot of good things to this club rebounding etc, but it could probally be Pietrus who wouldn't be bad eaither woud much rather have Artest though :).

I just read on IGN that the guy who broke the Suns getting Shaq trade has just said the Suns are looking at using the Atl pick and the TE to pick up Ron Artest...

http://boards.ign.com/basketball/b5109/159318388/p2/?32

I sure wouldn't mind the Suns trading that stupid pick for a real player.

At least we'd be able to rid ourselves of the Hawks Albatross that's been hanging around our necks for the last 2 years.

that guy is dbdynasty on RealGM.com

we are in a 3 way, which seems to be a legit two way, with denver.

DEN - Klieza + filler

PHX - TE + ATL

I'm wondering how Kleiza's re-injuring his ankle by tripping on his own feet (nobody even around him) during yesterday's Nuggets game has influenced things? :D

I'm not saying I'm happy he hurt himself, just that the man is NOT coordinated.

I think that if the Suns deal is actually on the table, then it is better than what Denver is offering. I am not high on Kleiza, and the Kings would save about $4 million by not taking on any contracts from Phoenix. The ATL pick right now is a lottery pick and will be no worse than mid-first round. I would be surprised to hear that the Suns made the offer but Kings took the Nuggets one.
