The 10 a.m. rally will take place at Westgate [COLOR=#2573C2 ! important][FONT=Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif][COLOR=#2573C2 ! important][FONT=Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif][/FONT][COLOR=#2573C2 ! important][FONT=Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif][/FONT][/COLOR][/FONT][/COLOR][/COLOR](exact location TBA), near Jobing.com Arena.

I wonder if it will resemble the Save the Jets rallies in Winnipeg. I am guessing the attendance will fall a little short. Either way I doubt they are going anywhere.

Save the Phoenix Coyotes Rally on Saturday. The 10 a.m. rally will take place at Westgate

I just heard on the radio that Westgate will not allow the rally to take place there because of the "politics" involved.

Well if you dont have a rally or an effort to save a team, thats where the problem comes in. If the Coyotes seemed to be on their way out, and no one cared, why would new investors step up and try to keep them here? You have to show potential investors that theres a fanbase/consumer base here. If you don't put up an effort to save a team, then it seals their fate.

wouldn't it be more effective to buy tickets to the games? they don't care who shows up at a rally. they care how many tickets are sold. that's the REAL evidence of fanbase/consumer.

that and these rallies are often well after the process is too deep into it - in their most effective state they just get a replacement team a little faster

i'm still hopeful this can get resolved putting in place a professional owner and management team

wouldn't it be more effective to buy tickets to the games? they don't care who shows up at a rally. they care how many tickets are sold. that's the REAL evidence of fanbase/consumer.

I don't think people should buy tickets for the Coyotes if they think the product is crap (and, it is). Would you buy a vacuum cleaner you knew functioned poorly? Id hope not. Sports are a product like anything else, and people will support them financially when the product is worth more to them than their money. Sports fans are economic actors like anyone else, some bizarre religious blind loyalty ought not to be expected.

I support Apple Computer with my money because I think they make a damn fine product. Now if there comes a day when I feel thats changed, Ill switch, but it hasn't yet so I keep supporting them. Sports is the same way, I support the teams financially that are worth my time and money and ignore the rest. I, like many Valley residents, have ignored the Coyotes for the past little while because its been a boring, hard to get to, garbage product.

A rally can show people want to embrace the team if a quality product was put on the ice.

The rally, if attendance is light, will be an epic failure and it will add fuel to the fire because it will be a prime example how even with this team on its death bed no one reallty cares. Again, look at the Winnipeg clips and do the math. Local, National and Canadian media will have a field day if a couple hundred people show up. It is a risk.

Well do your part to make sure a lot of people show up then I would be there but I have to work, but Ive told all my sports fan friends about it.

i'm not telling people that they should have bought tickets. what i'm saying is that no team will stay in an area if they are not receiving financial support, regardless of whether or not the product is good. and in the long run, the nhl won't want to keep product where it won't be supported financially either. a rally is a VERY poor indicator of the financial viability of a sports product.

I agree to a point, but it's much easier getting behind a team that is winning over a team that is losing. Do you really think we'd even be having this conversation if the Coyotes were winning conference championships?

last year I went to 6 games - would of been 7, but I had to sell my tickets to one of the games because I went out of town on vacation

live hockey is the best and the venue is superb
