I can't wait to see this movie - Any Mandy Moore appearance and I'll go see it.

It's nice to see her branching out slightly on her roles.. apparently she's playing a Reese Witherspoon/Election type role. Whee!

Moore was pretty good. Jena Malone and Martin Donovan were great I thought.

Excellent film. Didn't quite have the real impact The Dangerous Lives of Alter Boys had, but that's a bit unfair, as aside from religion, children, and a Caulkin, they were completely different types of films. Well done by Macauly (spelling?) Caulkin...great role.

***spoiler***

Macauly (spelling) Caulkin's line about the pipe bomb, and the followups, were absolutely HYSTERICAL!!!

FINALLY saw this.

I thought it absolutely histerical.

My favorite line and scene was (SPOILER )

"Of course I'm upset... I just crashed my van into Jesus!"

(or something like that)

I also liked the part where they were like: "But I'm the boyfriend. I'm the father. I'm his boyfriend" LOL

Anyway, this movie had me cracking up the whole time. Mandy Moore was excellent, especially in the end scenes. I loved everyone in it. Jena Malone, Patrick Fugit (hottie) and Caulkin were great. And I loved the bad girl... she played that role well.

Anyhoo, this is definitely a movie I'm getting when it comes out. Maybe I related too well with the school uniforms, or maybe I just liked how they joked about the born again Christians. Either way, I enjoyed it throughly!

I saw it... Mandy Moores character reminded me of this girl I knew in high school (well at least until she went crazy). Religious fantatics..... they scare me sometimes.

All in all the movie was pretty funny, was worth the 6.50.

Just saw this last night and I loved it. Hilarious poke at the ultra-religious and how some of them can be so hypocritical.

I am not a big fan of Mandy Moore, but she did a great job in this film and was very convincing as the over-the-top religious girl with no real clue about anything. It was great to see that character brought down to reality and ultimately crash and burn.

Culkin was also very good which was a surprise. Nice to see him be able to break away from the Home Alone stuff and put forth a good effort in what seemed like a pretty challenging role. Will that guy ever lose the baby face?

Perhaps the ending was a bit too happy, but the overall message was a good one.

That is one of the things that made her so successful in this role. Maybe it wasn't too big a stretch for her to play the spoiled brat who gets everything she wants.

I liked her in A Walk to Remember, thought she was pretty convincing in that as well.

There is just something about her I don't care for. Maybe it is that image of "the good girl" that she plays off of. I expect her to take a Britney/Christina turn at some point and go sleezy.

Out of all the popular actresses out there, I think Mandy is the most real. She still lives with her parents and brother, doesn't wear the outlandish clothes that you see some celebrities in, does charity work etc.

Sure, some of that may be a front, but compared to the majority of actresses out there, I view her as the most down-to-earth. Obviously I'm slightly biased because she is my favorite actress, but still.

I'm excited for her future roles, and the growth that's to come.

Shes not an actress. Shes a frickin singer. Name one major movie she was in. And as for her still living with mommy and daddy, its becuase they raised her from day one to be this mega superstar. Which still hasnt happened. She is still under the control of her parents. She is told to say the right things, listen to her speech pattern and her eyes. All prefabricated.

wow - what did she do to you, run over your dog or something?

She was in Chasing Liberty, A Walk to Remember, Saved, How to Deal, Princess Diaries (that was a big one in the kiddy world) and one more that I can't think of right now.

You have proof that her parents raised her from day one to be a mega superstar? If she didn't want to be one, I highly doubt her parents held her captive and said "YOU MUST BE A MEGA SUPER STAR!!"

But whatever, you obviously have your opinion and I have mine.

After watching her in Saved, I would have to disagree with the fact that she is "not an actress". She did a great job in this film and was very believable in her character.

She is by no means a top billing type of actress at this point, mainly because the films she has been in have been the stereotypical, teenage flicks that an actor or actress can only pull off for so long.

Many good actors and actresses are performing in Indie films such as this one and learn a great deal more about acting than they would if they were in a blockbuster.

I think she has more potential as an actress than she does as a singer. As for mommy and daddy raising her to be star, etc..., that is certainly no fault of hers.

Of course she is going to be "phony" to some extent. Anyone who "acts" has to be, that is the whole idea, pretending to be something you are not.

Big movie as in critically acclaimed. I never heard of any of those movies you mentioned. Doesnt really matter though. I dont have one favorite actor/actress. They all a bunch of snotty nosed, listen to what I say, vote for who I vote for, look at me Im famous Aholes. If I did have to pick one I would say Mel Gibson. Seen a profile on him. He battled alchohol, makes movies instead of being in them, and loves God. This prolly why I dont watch many movies. 1) Actors are fake. They cant serepate a role from real life. 2) I dont have the attention span to watch a wack movie. Which 90% of movies are wack to me.

Ah ya.. And the Matrix and LOTR are God awful. Someone must have been on some kinda drug to think something so outrageous as those two movies up. I like something based on real life. IE...Goodfellas, Braveheart.

Saved has actually been critically acclaimed by several critics, and I would not be the least bit surprised to see it get some recognition by the Academy this year.

Granted, there is not a lot of competition out there, but this was a well written script, a well produced film and had a lot of very, very good performances by the cast.

A film does not have to be a blockbuster or even popular to be good.

Pardon my saying so, but that is a silly reason NOT to see this movie. Since you dislike her so much, this film may actually enhance your dislike for her even more, and when she gets what she deserves in the end, you may feel somewhat vindicated.

Saved is a very good movie. If you like Independent Films, you are doing yourself a dis-service by not seeing it.

However, after reading some of your posts today, I guess you probably don't care for films in general or actors and actresses, so that leads me to this question, what the heck are you reading the movie forum for?

Guess I could take the easy way out and say cuz its a free country. But thats not actually why. I said I do like movies. Like I said, I dont like actors, I dont go see a movie just cuz a specific actor in it. But, I might refuse to see a movie if a specific actor in it. I watch a movie if its something that is based in reality and has a good plot. I come in this forum bcuz most of you watch alot of movies and say the plots and if you like em. Now, if I cant voice an opinon on why I dont wanna see a movie and its gets taken to the point where you question me and why I browse a certain forum, thats too bad.
