Texans | Smith Agrees To Six-Year, $26.3M Deal - from www.KFFL.com
Wed, 3 Mar 2004 23:38:24 -0800

Jim Wyatt, of the Tennessean, reports the Houston Texans have agreed to terms with free agent DT Robaire Smith (Titans) on a six-year contract worth $26.3 million that includes an $8 million signing bonus.

Mutha$#*&$)&$#)%&$)(*&*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And another one bites the dust.

Check that...it's not that just another one bites the dust...it's another damn good player at a position of need that we couldn't get off our frickin' rear ends to pursue that just bit the dust. Argh!

You mean NFL teams don't work 9-5? Someone call Howdy Doody and tell him Bush took away his overtime and get his ass to work.

When we schedule visits, do the agents and players approve the day? If they do, then I imagine we didn't have much of a chance to sign these guys. If they dont' even want to see what every team has to offer then what can we do? I think it's obvious that these guys didn't want to play here, or anywhere other then where they signed. You can blame us for not getting them in sooner, but I would imagine we get guys in as soon as we can.

This is M.F.ing B.S. I go through this every year with the Vikes now I have to go through this with my new team (my 2nd favourite) F. maybe I should just find a new hobby.

How much cap money does HOU have don't the Cards have more then them.

They did what the Cards and Vikings should have done.

They signed Wade OL upgraded!
They signed Smith DL upgraded!

The Cards need a legit DT and OT.
The Vikes need a legit DT and OT.

WTF is going on.

I should have picked the Pats as my favourite team when I had the chance 5 years ago.

Guys like Wade and Smith WOULD RATHER SIGN WITH HOU?!?!?!

What if Green didn't think he was that good? Could that be a possibility?

As far as I can tell, we need a DT. The DT market was thin. Robaire Smith was at or near the top of the DT list. Robaire smith wasn't even on our list of visitors, as far as I remember. That speaks volumes, volumes, about what we're (not) doing right now.

On top of that the contract he signed wasnt that bad. It was something the Cards could have easily swallowed... But apparently Graves is only interested in swallowing these...no not gonna do it...

No, but I understand that he's a classic clubhouse cancer and is only good because of all the good players around him.

Frankly, we should be thanking Rod Graves for not signing this guy.

... Wait for it...

Some days I just want to smack the @#$!@#%$#! out of the Cardinals.

Line Bidwuss, Graves, and any other responsible parties and the my hand fly across their faces.

I thought Robaire was the guy we needed.

This blows!

Any thought that our Defensive line is grossly under-talented ?

Spend the money to make your team better.

What determines a player's value? The market does. If a team is willing to pay Smith $1M or $100M, that's his value.

IMO, yes, he's being overpaid--but that's the market we're dealing with.

No this is the frantic part of free agency where players are vastly overpaid. Smith isn't worth this contract period.

Wait a week, and the Robaire Smith's of the NFL get half as much.
