Man....with all the over-optimism going on here about how were going to crush the rams......I am getting nervous

Do I think the Cards can beat the rams....yes. Do I think the rams could beat that cards......yes.

A win would be great but dont get too cocky, remember---we're cardinals fans

I wasn't concerned until I heard today that Bulger was out for sure. Now we have to face the backup QB in Ferrotte and as several posters have noted in other threads backup QBs and RBs have given the Cards fits.

I don't think everyone is thinking we are going to crush them. Most are preaching caution....the general feeling seems to be this looks like a classic trap game.

So much so that the team has blue and gold mousetraps hanging in the locker room.

I'm convinced that this game will be a lot closer than people on this board think. There's a reason why we're only a 3 1/2 pt favorite. We win a couple of close games & everyone thinks we're the Patriots. We still have many holes on this team & we have yet to prove that we can even WIN on the road, let alone crush someone. I'm expecting the Rams to battle us & I just want to come away with a W.

Deep down, every week, I am always scared of Cards' games, while at the same time believing they might win.

Yep. We could win by a score of 2-0 and I'd be happy.

Frerotte came in strong for the Vikings--an indoor team with a lot of weapons--a couple of years ago. He's a couple years older, but he also hasn't been getting sacked for most of that time either. Should be taken seriously.

Also, the Rams are 0-4, not 0-16. Even at this pace, they'll likely finish with 4-5 wins, and they know the Cards well. It should still be treated as a challenge, and I'm glad coach is doing so.

What hasn't given us fits over the last decade? :D

1) We have lost games to teams that had only one win that entire year, so I guess we should be afraid of horrible teams.

2) We have lost games to teams that couldn't score a single offensive point against us, so I guess we should be afraid of inept quarterbacks.

3) We have lost games where we were ahead by 17+ points, so I guess we should be afraid of jumping out to a lead.

4) We have lost games when a ref make a bad call and moves the opponent into field goal range at the last moment, so I guess we should be afraid of playing in games that have referees.

As a team, we have found so many varied and creative ways to lose games, that I am getting immune to "I'm worried about back up QB's" thoughts. Mainly because there are an infinite amount of reasons to get nervous about any particular game.

In Vegas there is an old saying, "the race doesn't always go to the swiftest, but that is the way to bet."

At some point I am going to have to trust that the coaching staff is going to get our team sufficiently prepared to beat a team that we are better than.

So my new attitude is the same as Alfred E. Newman's - "What, me worry?"

The Shark takes a bite out of fear.

One little thing, we need to beat a team that we are better than, on the road.

Might as well get two demons with one exorcisim.

I think we're gonna crush them! I say that because whiz is so focused on this game and not looking past it that we're gonna beat them as bad we should! Dont forget who our coach is, Denny Green isn't here anymore!

Teams that have to beat us in the last game of the season to get into the playoffs.

Teams that have to play us after we've been blown out in our first two or three games of the season.

Teams we play at the end of the season when a loss to them would drastically improve our draft position.

High profile Running backs not named Emmit Smith.

WE need to take the same approach as we have the this season. On the road we need to survive the first quarter, avoid mistakes and take the crowd out of the game.
This will be a tough game.

It may be a cliche but it's true - every player on our roster and every coach on our staff should zero in on perfect execution on the next assignment of the next play of the next series of the next quarter of the next game.

Execute well and the "W"'s will come.

Speculate about where we will be 2, 3, 5, 10 games from now and we'll be toast.

I don't think fans speculating where the team will be 2,3,5,or 10 games from now has any effect whatsoever on the players or the outcome of games.

Now if several players were posting on this thread it would be a different story.

I wonder of the rams are going to break out the gimmick plays; I bet they throw the kitchen sink at us.

concerns with rams

My concerns with the rams are not who they lost, but who is coming back for this game.

1) Rich Incognito - OL, is returning from high ankle sprain. This returns a starting lineman to the Rams(OG). He has been practicing for 2 weeks and should be ready to go.

2) Fakir Brown - CB, is returning from being suspended. This returns a starting db to the Rams. He practiced this week.

Both of these changes help the Ram injury situation, and make the Cardinal victory a little harder.

Also, the replacements for Pace and Setterstrom have had an additional week to gain a comfort level with the others in the offensive line.

Exactly. The most important thing affecting the outcome of a game is which jersey or shirt I choose to wear on gameday.

I would be surprised indeed if JeffG thought that message board speculation had any bearing on the outcome of the games.

They are also most likely going to be missing Isaac Bruce, Dane Looker and Corey Chavous, as well as Stephen Jackson and Tye Hill.

Milford Brown is going to start at RT, so I expect a big game from our D-Line.

:yeahthat: If you are unsure, just ask Lou Piniella (but if you do, be prepared to duck).
