Do the Cardinals give in and start rebuilding, or is this an easy "NO!" right away?

i know this is a hypothetical -- but that kind of trade just isn't the Patriots' style.

No. We already let Q go and it looks like Breaston might be shown the door next. Lock Larry up.

Yup. Both of those 1st rounders and one of those young VERY talented TE's and it was a done deal yesterday.

If we had 3 first rounders, we could go AJ Green at #5 and get Houston with the first of the acquired picks and you STILL have a later first to use on a DB, or something like that. Add in Hernandez to the trade and we have a rebuild instantly. Four starters for one? You have to consider it....

FWIW. Typically, the Pats' first rounders are in the late twenties and potentially 30-32, so it's not like they are exactly stellar.

Moreover, if this is after his contract is up, we cant tag the guy so it would have to be a sign and trade, which certainly wont happen.

Also, this is a move that is not typical of the Pats. More often than not, they try and get as many picks in as possible a la Jimmy Johnson's Cowboys. Correct me if Im wrong, but I have yet to see them trade a first rounder for a veteran but rather gain a first rounder by trading one of their own (ex. Deion Branch to the Hags). They did get Randy Moss, but for a 4th round pick. They are very good negotiators and almost always get the upper hand in deals.

Simply put, get a competent QB in here and re-sign the face of the franchise and the best wideout in the league

TJ? Why do you always use the funky pics of our coaches on your sig? They look like professional bowlers. :p
This one is outdated because of his new job title, but it's a good one. :D

I'd do it. Take Green at 5, fill holes through the rest of the draft, and it's a no brainer. I'd hate to lose Fitz, but I'd hate even more to have him play out the season, and get nothing when he hits free agency. We have no leverage, since our master negotiator took the franchise tag off the table.

Not my fault they look like professional bowlers.

Perhaps Brad Pitt wants to coach the offensive line? (no homo)

So the question is would you trade Larry Fitzgerald for players similar to Beanie Wells and Dan Williams if the picks were in that range. Or Bryant Johnson and Calvin Pace if 17 or 18?

Two first round picks sounds great. When you substitute players the Cardinals have drafted not so great. Would be different if we had the guys drafting that they do in NE make the picks for us as part of the deal.

Do it. Fitz is elite, but elite WRs aren't the main ingredient in winning the Lombardi trophy. The one thing this team has never had trouble finding over the years is a good WR. If the deal were Hernandez +the Pats two picks, we could fix our entire defense in the first round and still have a pick to spare.

Sure if you pick the failed picks. What about the successes? Would you trade Fitz for a young DRC, Dansby, and Hernandez?

If you take the mentality of "well most of our picks have failed in the past" then by that logic we should just trade away all our picks every year for any players we can get.

god it would suck to lose fitz, but could you imagine fitz on the patriots with brady throwing him the ball wow. Would fitz become the number one pick in fantasy if he ended up on the patriots? I highly doubt this trade happens but who knows.

What successes? The only one is the guy you want to trade away. (Maybe Dan Williams can add his name to the list)

People are already talking about DRC as a failure. Same with Wells and Levi Brown.

Wells can't stand up. DRC unmotivated hotdog. Levi Brown can't block. Leinart released. Rolle let go in free agency. Thomas Jones, Bryant Johnson and Pace let go in free agency after accomplishing little in Arizona. Leonard Davis, vilified by the fans and left in free agency.

Face it the Cards have a terrible track record in drafting and developing first round picks. Sure they might suddenly get better at it but it might hail moon rocks tomorrow too.

Right, well then we better trade #5 away for the best player we can get. We don't need another top 5 bust on this team.

I'm down with that. Trade the #5 instead of Fitzgerald. It's a higher percentage play.

Think we could get Kolb and the #23 from Philly for it? How about the #28, #33 and Hernandez?

Given our track record Orton and the #36 and #46 from Denver would be even better. Denver could then get two top defensive players they need and we get:

Orton,Dereck Sherrod,Kyle Rudolph, and Sam Acho.
