Now that Atlanta has no 1st... how about we offer a 2nd or a 3rd and BJ for Schaub?

They were offered Abraham for Schaub straight up, and passed. Why would they take less now? Why do you think that Bryant Johnson has any trade value whatsoever?

No IIRC they turned down Abraham for Schaub and a first. Now they got Abraham and are without a 1st they may want an extra second to move back into the first.

ESPN Insider Rumor Central said:
Vikings eyeing Schaub
<Mar. 17> Since dealing Daunte Culpepper, the Vikings are now in the market for a quarterback and have inquired about Schaub, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.
Many teams have expressed interest in Schaub, but so far the Falcons have been reluctant to deal the promising backup quarterback. Atlanta doesn't consider Schaub untouchable, according to ESPN.com's Michael Smith, but they're inclined to sit back and wait for the right offer.

Before trading for Culpepper, the Dolphins offered Atlanta a second-round pick for Schaub. The Jets had been pushing the Falcons to include Shaub in a potential deal involving defensive end John Abraham, but instead opted to trade for Patrick Ramsey.

Abraham forced to wait
<Mar. 21> Although the Falcons and Jets remain in a stalement over a potential trade involving Abraham, neither side is giving up hope that a resolution can be reached.
"I know we're trying hard to satisfy all parties concerned," Falcons owner Arthur Blank told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I think John Abraham is satisfied, at this point. It's just a matter of us working something out with the Jets."

The Falcons have reached an agreement with Abraham on a multiyear contract, but the Jets rejected Atlanta's offer of a second-round pick. The deal with Atlanta would pay Abraham between $15 million and $18 million guaranteed.

Seattle, conversely, has finished the second half of the equation, but not the first. According to multiple reports, the Seahawks have agreed to send their first-round choice in this year's draft -- the 31st overall pick -- to the Jets for Abraham, but the three-time Pro Bowl pass rusher has resisted Seattle's advances on a long-term contract.

Because he is a franchise player and eligible for free agency in 2007, Abraham must come to contract terms with the team for which he would play. At the same time, the Jets don't want to give up Abraham without getting what they believe is fair compensation.

Abraham has also drawn interest from Denver, Cleveland and Detroit, but those teams appear to be out of the running at this stage.

The deal that I saw was Abraham for Schaub, straight-up. They got Abraham for a 1st, and got two mid-rounders also. They don't want to give up Schaub for anything less than a first-rounder. Honestly, I expect to get a starting-caliber position player with that 41st overall pick, hopefully Abdul Hodge. If we wanted a QB with some starting experience and a ton of potential, we could have traded our sixth for Patrick Ramsey.

I think Atlanta still has a first. From what I read they traded down with Denver for their 2 firsts and then traded one of them away for Abraham.

EDIT: Never mind I read the report wrong.

You guys read him wrong. He meant our first rounder plus a bj.

Now that's thinking outside of the box!

It seems pretty evident that Atlanta is NOT trading Schaub unless someone makes them a really stupid offer. I've heard reports on several programs on Sirrius that Atlanta has turned down several offers of a #1 pick for him.

Atlanta seems to be comfortable with him backing up Vick and know that somewhere along the line they will need Schaub when Vick goes down.

For the Cards, I would rather see them take a QB in the draft. If Young is there at #10 I'd LOVE them to draft him. Cutler, not so much at the 10 spot, but it would be OK.

Later, if they could get that Gradkowski (sp?) kid in the 3rd, I think he might be a strong QBOF prospect. Liked what I saw of him the couple of times I saw him play.

IMO Johnson is still a very good receiver and a very strong #3 for us. I hope we keep him. I think he would start for a number of teams.

Which ones? I'm not sure there's a team in the league that Bryant Johnson can start for, and I'm a fan of the guy. Maybe San Francisco, maybe San Diego, but even those are iffy.

He would start for the Eagles, I say we swap picks with them and give them Bryant and our 3rd for there #2. We would then get a starting quality players with both of the 2nd rounders. It is within 25pts on the trade value chart with BJ as a low 3rd rounder.

Dude he would definitely start for San Francisco, San Diego, maybe the Falcons, maybe the Dolphins, and a few other teams he would be strongly competitive.

BJ isn't a bad player, he just isn't that good. He hasn't been a huge bust for where he was drafted.
