It's a subject worth discussing because coach Ken Whisenhunt has benched Leinart before, albeit in favor of Kurt Warner, not Anderson.

When did this happen?

Is Sando talking about the Bears game last season? Because that is the only time I know of that Leinart was ever benched in favor of anybody.

a couple things, one, ESPN does crap like this to try and generate rating for the game tonight, and two, who cares if Leinart's not some player's choice? He Whisenhunt's choice and that's what matters.

I'm anxious to hear what Gruden has to say about Leinart. He's the best thing ESPN has going for them.

Duck, can you link me to Sando's comments? Schefter has no where near the credibility with me that Sando has.

As far as "benching" Matt, he was taken out of games in two minute situations and then lost the starting job in preseason after being injured the year before. Not sure that constitutes being "benched", but it is open for discussion.

Those who think our Coach does not like Matt being his QB don't give him much credit. He has had 3 years to see this coming. I'm trusting our Coach to put the players on the field in the position to win games. Whisenhunt engineered this.

Gruden is gushing about the two headed monster RB tandem in TH and BW...he likens BW to a young Eddie George (one of your boys, Cbus!)...and thus he thinks the Cardinals will be fine.

The Leinart media hate is almost unprecedented. Yet some people still wonder why he's playing hesitant. The guy gets ripped on for everything he does, good or bad. Sando (whom I like, by the way) had an article today about how Leinart needs to play like Alex Smith did this weekend in order to ease people's doubts. What he failed to mention is that Leinart had a better rating and averaged more ypa in his first preseason game than Smith's had in either of his.

It's all pretty ridiculous. I hope Matt shuts a lot of people up tonight, but I realize that's essentially impossible no matter what happens.

I just don't get all the Leinart hate from the media. You'd think this guy was an a-hole like Cutler blaming everyone else but himself for all his shortcomings. Leinart has actually been pretty quiet this offseason and hasn't said jack to his detractors.

I was just thinking that.. Other than Tom Jackson who has been talking crap about the Cardinals for 20 years, I dont get it.. I dont get why Jackson hates us so much either..

If Jackson was pressed I'd bet that he'd admit that he's never even talked to Leinart. How the hell he knows anything about Matt's level of dedication is beyond me.

But on the other hand they all love Vince Young.. The guy who wanted to off himself and punching people in the back rooms of strip clubs.. I mean ya.. This makes total sense..

Did anyone watch the recent Leinart video on the Card's site? The personal trainer they talked to said he has a lot of pro football players he trains in the offseason and the first player who called him to prepare a workout was Leinart. Then you have Leinart working out in LA with other NFL players and being one of the first players at the training facility and you wonder where they get this stuff.

Whatever...Collinsworth hated us in '08, Jimmy Johnson said we were "done" after 2 games in '09---why does anything surprise me now?

I don't think that Warner continuing as starter from 2007 to 2008 counts as Leinart being benched. If that were the case you could say Aaron Rodgers was benched 3 straight years, for Brett Farve.

I know the old saw about not losing your job due to injury but that has never been a dead solid fact. Just ask Wally Pipp. :D

As for the 2 minute situation that would be like saying a WR or RB was benched because the team was in a goal line or short yardage situation or a TE going to the bench while the team went with 4 wides.

Being benched is what happened to Warner when Denny Green replaced him with Leinart in 2006 or McCown in 2005. But even then I wouldn't count that as a negative considering Green's penchant for running a QB carousel.

Matt's near entire problem is self inflicted, his press conference was like raw meat to wolves, I mean sack up and stand up for yourself, this head down aww schucks stuff needs to go bye bye.

IMO that's what all this is, I don't know who Matt's PR coach is but either they need fired or he needs to hire one fast.

Act like you're the man even if you are shaking in your shoes, fear goes over like a fart in a spacesuit in the NFL.

Also if I'm Whiz, if I believe it or not, even if I dislike the guy I'd give him a speech telling him he's the dude, even if I don't believe it just to see if it makes any dang difference.

To me it's silly to just let the kid swing like this, not all players are wired the same way, it wouldn't kill anyone to express faith in the guy just to see if it helps for gosh's sakes.

Well said Conrad. I agree. I wish KW would tell him "your my Quarterback" like Coryell did with Jim Hart not long after he was hired. I think it may have helped Hart some.
