Scherzer, BayBears blank Jaxx
Diamondbacks' '06 top pick records 11 of Mobile's 17 strikeouts

Max Scherzer struck out 11 in six scoreless innings as Mobile shut out visiting West Tenn, 4-0, on Wednesday.
Scherzer, the Diamondbacks' first-round pick in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft, walked two and gave up two hits, including a double to Brent Johnson in the first inning. Johnson, who was 2-for-4, went to third on a flyout, but was stranded there.
Scherzer (1-1) struck out the side in the second and the fifth, and he fanned five of the last seven batters he faced. Three BayBears pitchers totaled 17 strikeouts in the game.
