According to ESPN, Scobey has been claimed by the Seahawks. Maybe they want to get back because we got theirs.

Maybe the Seahawks need a return man. That was his primary value for the Cards.

Seahawks Release Two, Claim One off Waivers

8/23/2005

The Seattle Seahawks released running back Jesse Lumsden, defensive tackle Cedric Woodard and claimed running back Josh Scobey off waivers from the Arizona Cardinals, the team announced this afternoon.

Woodard started all 16 games last season. In his five years with Seattle, he played in 61 games with 21 starts, collecting 110 tackles (71 solo), one sack, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Lumsden signed as an undrafted free agent from McMaster University in Canada April 24, 2005.

Scobey, a fourth-year back from Kansas State, spent the first three seasons with the Cardinals primarily as a kick returner. Originally selected in the sixth-round (185th overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft, he has played in 28 career games with 105 kickoff returns for 2,407 yards with a long of 100t.

As thin as the Seahwks are at DT I'm surprised that Woodard went from starting 16 games to being cut in training camp. I don't know if something has happened to him (injury, weight), but from what I saw from him last season I would bring him.

The Seahawks aparently like what they have in Darby and Tubbs. That's why Woodward is gone.

I'm not really sure what is up with Woodward. But I think we could take a look. He has the size of a NT, but does he have the speed and athlectic ability we need?

Actually, scratch that. The release may have to do with an injury (knee? shoulder?).

So unless he is healthy, we won't be looking.

We're moving up. Teams are actually interested in our former players.

NFL teams that is. The management teams at car dealerships and McDonalds have always liked the guys we cut.

woodard was looking to be the #4 on the depth chart with the play of tubbs & darby

he has been slow recovering from knee surgery and there was some concern there (just returned to practice at the end of last week)

basically the hawks were sceptical in what he could bring after the surgery and were comfortable with the play of darby & tubbs .... they wanted him to take a pay cut to match his new role ... he refused and got cut

as for scobey, this is purely to find a return man

recently they have had morris on kickoffs and engram on punts ... they wont drop them, but wont return them far either

they wanted lumsden to get a good look at the job, but he was injured early

i'd like to see pathon returning kicks

either way, if scobey makes the squad it will be because he impressed someone at returns and ST

the hawks are pretty deep at RB

I'm sure Scobey paid a lot of attention to that with all the playing time he was getting.

I'm sure he knows nothing about the playbook since he didn't see the field that often.

I was being sarcastic, but your smiley lacks meaning to me and is extremely hard to interpret.

well scobey is making a big impact thus far

Noted: Newly acquired RB Josh Scobey fumbled two handoffs while making his Seattle practice debut. The Seahawks are interested in seeing whether Scobey, claimed off waivers from Arizona on Tuesday, can improve their return game.
