They have every right to be feeling good about themselves.

Sunday will be interesting.

Yeah, they think a little too highly of themselves. Especially about the impact of their crowd. But, they SHOULD be confident about winning the game. If we win the turnover battle, we could steal one. We've hammered Hasselbeck the past two seasons. If we can generate that sort of pressure again, we have a chance.

that said, I think we lose the game because I think we will lose the turnover battle. And, i would not be shocked if the score got ugly. BUT, the game is much bigger for the Hawks than it is for us. We still get them back in our place with a chance to even it out. A win for them is only a hold of serve.

Don't underestimate the impact of their crowd. I've heard players and coaches around the league all say that Quest Field is one of, if not THE, loudest stadiums in the NFL...and opposing teams rack up a ton of false start and procedure penalties there.

For the record, Qwest Field was specifically designed to create and contain maximum crowd noise. Qwest field also is the leading stadium to produce false starts/delay of games in the league, since it was built. This isn't simply Seattle fans thinking highly of themselves, the facts speak for themselves.

To respond to the rest of your post, I agree that if the hawks win this game, it definitely means less than if the cards pulled out a victory at Qwest. Momentum could be an issue, but if the hawks pull out a close victory at home against the cards, i don't see it slowing Arizona down at all. Like you said, the hawks still gotta play in Arizona.

I know they have a great crowd. But there were posts saying Max Hall is "going to shat his pants", "never heard anything close to what he'll hear Sunday", etc. Max Hall may have a lousy game Sunday, but's it won't be because he's afraid of the noise. The fans tried to have an impact the last two times we played there and they still lost the game. It's far more important how their team plays rather than how loud they yell.

Judging from the results of the other 2 home games this year, I have to think they have a right to feel confident about the Seahawks home field advantage.

Right on - you're a good sport over on the blue

I also feel pretty good about this game - but this is such a random year and our respective teams are definitely full of the schizo bug

I expect there to be really good emotion for a divisional road game coming off a win that bested a few demons (after the bye, road game, 10am start, bears)

On matchups I think seattle has a lot going for them .... cardinals have struggled with the run and forsett/lynch went for over 120 & 2TDs against a good bears defense ..... UDFA QB making 2nd start, 1st road game, 1st divisional game in the loudest building in the league ..... cardinals haven't been a great running game and the hawks so far have shown one of the best running defenses in the league .... injury questions to the cards secondary receivers make it more difficult for them to exploit the hawks iffy secondary

cards do have a potential mismatch against the hawk OL though with the pass rush and the hawk WRs are very untested

i think like most games this year the actual route of play wont look like anything that I could anticipate .... and in the end it will come down to turnovers, errors/penalties and putting points on the board (getting that TD instead of FG when you're within the 10, not running a failed fake kick in leiu of 30 yrd fg, etc)

Pardon me for feeling kind of apathetic about "how Seattle fans are feeling."

The only thing that matters to me is whether the Cardinals win Sunday.

The two controlling factors on the Seattle side of the ball are (1) a healthy Hasselbeck and (2) Pete Carroll's impact on the team. Regarding the latter (with probably too much weight how they performed against the Bears), Carroll appears to be getting it done by emphasizing field position, turnovers/sacks, playing mistake-free football (i.e. few penalties) and opportunistic play calling).

The two controlling factors on the Cardinal side of the ledger appear to be: (1) Hall & his rate of development and (2) a high risk/high reward Cardinal defense and who shows up Sunday - Dr. Jekyll or the Hyde dude.

That plus the Seattle crowd noise and how the Cards deal with it.

They should feel good, and they should be confident. They should be the favorites to win this game. That said, that's when the Cards play their best. Hope we don't lay an egg.

I'm not surprised that they're feeling good about things. I am surprised at how lopsided many (most?) of their fans feel this game will be. A lot of posters there predicting or guaranteeing that we won't score an offensive touchdown. Hey, they could be right but they've done nothing this year to warrant such unbridled optimism IMO. OTOH, we've probably done enough to feed their hopes.

Most of the same ones were predicting a loss to the Bears. Now the kool aid over there is a bit stronger. :D

Cards are 1-2 coming off the bye week under Whis. 0-2 on the road after the bye.

:stick:

But the Cards are 6-2 in the next four weeks after losing after the bye week on the road.

:p

uh, unless you REALLY want to count levi brown's fumble recovery for a TD we have NOT scored an offensive TD in over two games. why shouldn't they feel somewhat comfortable in prognosticating such?

Well, you could say we're due. The San Diego game doesn't count AFAIC. Not for any incredibly supportable reason, I just refuse to count it. So, for me, that means we've played 4 quarters of Hall ball without an offensive TD. I'm not sure that's enough of a sampling to call it a trend and expect it to continue.

Although I didn't mention it in my post I was also somewhat reacting to the overall feel of their predictions. For example, there was one Seattle poster who claimed we would not have a drive exceeding 20 yards.

Based on the way we've played, I'd be hopefully confident too if I were a Seahawks fan but I'd temper that enthusiasm by remembering that while they've looked good a few times they've also looked pretty lost in a couple of games.

Yeah. Dockett twittered about it being the loudest place he's played.

He probably looked at the Cards drives against the Saints last week.

1. 5 yards ended in an INT
2. 15 yards
3. 20 yards
4. 35 yards
5. 2 yards
6. 9 yards end of half
7. 24 yards
8. 52 yards (15 on penalty)
9. 9 yards 3 and out
10. 6 yards 3 and out

But he needs to pay better attention. Out of 10 drives we had three that were longer than 20 yards.

the scary thing is, all those drives average . . . 17.7 yards/drive. ulp, that's under 20...
