The Seahawks were forced to trade a 5th round pick to the Eagles to cover the loss of Fant. They got former 7th round pick Matt Tobin. I'm guessing Tobin moves to guard and, as I mentioned earlier, Joeckel moves to tackle. This should be regarded as a slight move forward at the expense of a useable pick. They did get a player they could retain when Fant returns next year giving them needed line depth and flexibility.

The thing here is they immediately made a move to fill the hole instead of waiting and hoping that something would work out.

That's what gives players in the organization confidence in that when a hole opens up the FO immediately goes and tries to fill it.

Good for them. Doesn't help the fact that their line will still be amongst the worst in the league.

Its like spraying potpourri on a pile of dog schisse, it may smell a bit better but its still schisse.

5/5 and correct. Philly traded him because he sucks as an OT and maybe Harry is correct that he can move inside but he isn't fixing that mess of an Oline.

To bad the Cards weakness is having a not big beefy penetrator in the middle of the D Line. We may have taken advantage of that. Not likely though.

We've sacrificed a lot of size in recent years in favor of speed.

Um, Peters? And it's not like you need one against Seattle's OLine anyway.

It's amazing that the Seahawks win the division year after year with such a lousy O-line. This has been a weakness of the Cardinals for some time now. I am worried about Veldheer at RT. Worried about RG and C, too. Palmer is great when he is protected. But his play suffers when he is constantly being knocked on his ass.

Or the new guy might just be depth, as per Rotoworld......
Matt Tobin - G - Seahawks
Seahawks acquired T/G Matt Tobin and a 2018 seventh-round pick from the Eagles in exchange for a 2018 fifth-round pick.

Seattle is scrambling for tackle options after losing George Fant. Tobin started at right guard for the 2015 Eagles, showing promise as a run blocker but getting destroyed in pass protection. He was demoted into a deep reserve role last season. Tobin should only be viewed as depth for the Seahawks.

Hello?

The big picture is that Tobin was avaible along with why this jury happens...so if another one occurs it's same ol same ol no option...well other than the read option.

Now now boys I sense some backhandedness in these posts...

Does Seattle REALLY fill in holes on the O-Line? Part of the reason they are in this position is because Coach Double Rainbow thinks he can convert anyone to play OL. They have hardly done anything but bring in players and try and train them up, only to still leave Lil Danger to fend for himself.

Their O-Line is eventually going to be their demise - and it's because they continue to throw a whole lot of nothing at it.

It's actually a little bit like Russian roulette. They hope that somehow Wilson is getting it done, without getting nocked out.

The problem I see, normally sooner than later something goes wrong and everything goes south.

So Russel is getting older, 29 and if Vick and all this running QB showed us something, is that with about 28/29 you hit a wall and the running/escapability declines, Some said last year, Cam Newtons declined after 6 years and the heavy pounding he got.

Who knows, Cam was injured, Vick ... and someday maybe Wilson will get injured too.

I don't wish anybody harm, but for me it is a injury waiting to happen. But we will see.

And The O-line of the Seahawks is like the old Card ones, as long Warner was back there you didn't see how bad they were. If Wilson is down, have fun to search for QB that can stay healthy.

There isn't a team out there that's trading a Tackle they need at this time of the year. He was either garbage or going to be cut.

the Cards and Rams will at least split with them this year and if not, the Seahawks will lose a couple key games in their place. Seattle dont have that mojo this time

It's a money game. They are figuring they can use all the money to extend their key defensive players and Wilson, and he's so good at avoiding the pass rush they can win without high paid OL. So far it's working.

It won't work as well once Wilson starts to slow down...thats what happened last year.

Pete Carroll happy with Rees Odhiambo at left tackle, so far

The first man up in the next-man-up approach was Rees Odhiambo. Coach Pete Carroll provided a largely positive (albeit incomplete) review of the 2016 third-round pick.

“I thought he did pretty well,” Carroll told reporters. “He had one bad pass set and [quarterback Russell Wilson] got hit. He just made a mistake on it, but other than that, he did a pretty good job. There was another run play where his target may have been a little bit off, but I thought he was very solid, from what I can tell. I need to see the film.”

Oh it's not perfect I'm just saying it is by design and it is a big reason they've been able to put such a good defense on the field year after year

All I can say is that we'd better hand their a$$e$ to them on a silver platter at the home primetime game this year. I'm so sick of seeing those obnoxious 'hag fans stream into our house in huge numbers, all smug and talking smack in their ridiculous neon green garb, followed by the Cards falling flat on their faces and laying a turd on the home turf.

If the Cards can throttle these rat bastids AND the Cowboys at home this year - the season will be a success in my book.
