The Seattle Seahawks need to acquire starting-caliber wide receivers. General manager John Schneider flipped the position on its head by releasing Tyler Lockett and trading DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Those two moves were borderline unavoidable, considering Lockett's scheduled cap number, and Metcalf's trade request.

Nonetheless, those decisions created massive holes at wide receiver opposite Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Unfortunately, there are very few receivers left in free agency worth targeting. The highest priority on Schneider's wish-list should undeniably be former Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who was released from his contract earlier this week.

The Seahawks are among the teams "very interested" in signing Kupp, according to a new report by The Athletic's Dianna Russini.

Kupp would represent a massive upgrade for the Seahawks' receiving corps. Though he's battled injury in recent years, the former Eastern Washington standout has remained an effective weapon, recording 67 receptions for 710 yards and six touchdowns this past season. Kupp would immediately be a big-time playmaker for new starting quarterback Sam Darnold.

Signing Kupp away from the Seahawks' NFC rival Rams would be a bonus. New offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak derives from a similar coaching tree as Sean McVay, making his offense a natural fit for Kupp. Several potential suitors are reportedly in the mix, and the Seahawks should be willing to go above and beyond to land his signature.
