Yes...it would be a horrible misconception to think that a player at the end of the bench may actually participate in a game. Geez...you would think that our center position is one in need of a back up...come on...aren't you all satisfied with a 34 yr old PF and a french pastry puff ?

Darn, I'd make some caustic remark about posters telling others what bball topics they shouldn't be talking about on here - but, if I did that, I'd be guilty of the same sin. So I won't...

I don't know what happened last year, but Sean Marks who played in San Antonio was much better than Pat Burke. Pat Burke was a clown boy. Mike D'Antoni needed to see him for about two minutes in the Game 5 when he was short on big men to know they were better off going small. Honestly those two minutes could have been the difference in the game. He was absolutely horrible.

I'd like to at least see a little bit of Sow before I'm saying he should make the team over Marks.

Ouchie, weren't you one of the people agreeing with me the other day when I told George not to bother reading a thread if he was going to tell us how much it bored him? I know your brother was right there with me.

Ok guys, no talking about Banks, Pike, Burke, Marks, Rose even Tucker and Strawberry, or any non-Suns player because they weren't relevant last year's team. In fact, don't talk about teams past, unless it has relevance to last year's or this year's team.

Does that about cover it?

much better, yes.

you may all talk about cheesebeef though. he's relevant.

it was really meant to be a commentary on how little we have to discuss, but others took it seriously, so i ran with it. i don't really care what anyone talks about, i just find it funny that people are interested in marks considering he'll likely never impact a game, and it's not like that's conjecture considering he already spent an uninjured year on our bench doing just that . . . never impacting a game.

it's not so much a boredom thing as much as i think we're spinning our wheels talking about a guy that's never getting off the bench and we have evidence to that effect (last year). i don't care either way, i just find it funny that people are debating a moot point. it's like people arguing what a tree sounds like when it falls in a forest even though no one will be present to hear it.

Are you suggesting that there was information held back during this past year that Marks can still give Amare?

lol, i was thinking the same thing. he was only with the team for a year, how much information do you think he could convey in that time?

seriously - what is there to talk about these guys? Not saying people shouldn't or it would boring and people can talk about what they want, but what really is there to say about guys who have absolutely zero impact whatsoever on the Suns, past, present or future?

Burke has had plenty of impact on the Suns. Not necessarily on the court, but that doesn't mean that fans didn't like him, or shouldn't be talked about. There has been a long discussion about how Rose never got a chance to contribute, etc.

I figure I should pipe in on this ultra intense debate on the battle for the two guys who get to wear suits and sit courtside for all the Suns games this year (aka the last 2 men on the roster). It's obvious that we need another big man to fill one or both of the spots. But I would really like to see Strawberry make the roster. I know his offensive game gets alot of slack but there is always room for a lock down defender if the kid ever gets any offensive game to go with his athleticism and defense.

Obvously the issue isn't Marks, but filling the last roster slots. I'm very curious about why the Suns were trying to trade up to get Strawberry only to give the slot to Marks - because they clearly need a better big than Marks on the deep bench.

When the Suns run a big lineup with Amare and KT, it means the biggest guy they have coming off the bench is Diaw who is not able to defend the low block. In a series like against the Spurs, this presents a huge problem if the best of the rest is Marks. I don't know if there is a real low post defender out there available for at vet minimum, but I'd rather go through the search than to settle for Marks.

I could see giving Marks a "make good" contract to get him into camp. But if signing him means giving him a guaranteed contract, I just don't get it. There is simply no evidence that he can play, so why tie up a roster slot like that?

So far no one can give a logical reason for him taking up a roster slot, but it looks like that is exactly what is going to happen.

Can we get PJ Brown for the vet min? I mean he has money, would a chance at a title be enough to sway a guy who is 36 years old, it worked for Hill.
