Detroit got screwed but also screwed themselves. Great play by Kam. It's funny that some Seahawks fan were trying to say he was replaceable.

Our D line is better than Detroits, and I watched them manhandling and geting pressure on Wilson rushing 4 all night. There is no reason we can't do the same or better with our guys.

I'm not sure bout that. The Lions have speed rushers where as the Cards don't. 2 different style, one is set to stop the run while the other is pure pass rush.

Btw you did see what Wilson did to us last year without LBs who can run & cover didn't you? I'm very worried the Cards don't match up well again this year defensively.

Don't forget Lynch was out too, so the run game was pretty much not a threat besides Wilson

Here's the deal. The Lions were already in FG range and choose to run a close range pass play forcing Johnson to have to run it in. The best play would have been to throw it into the endzone. If he catches it, TD. If he doesn't, you can kick it. Hell, 3rd and 1, get the first down. They still had 2 timeouts left to play with and almost 2 minutes left. And Johnson should have secured the ball. Call or no call the Lions were just as culpable as the officials here. That said, a rule is a rule and you either enforce it or not. There are no provisions in the rules, any rules for interpretation. If the rule states that a player cannot bat the ball out of bounds then the player cannot bat the ball regardless if it's "going out of bounds anyway". This is the rule:

It is an illegal bat if:

a) any player bats or punches a loose ball in the field of play toward his opponent's goal line

b) any player bats or punches a loose ball (that has touched the ground) in any direction, if it is in either end zone

The rule is pretty clear and the excuse is that the official didn't think it was an overt act by Wright. Overt act or not, the ball was batted. Just another blown call that had an impact on the game.

True, but I'm not sure that line will give Lynch much room to work with.

It doesn't matter when your QB can run all over the field until guys are wide open & your beat for 30 yard completions all night. If the Cards can't get to him (which I don't think we've got the horses too), he beats you with the run or the pass.

IMO Wilson is more slippery & most dangerous than Big Ben was in his prime. The Lambs & Lions have those guys to limit his effectiveness somewhat, though it's tough no matter who's after him.

At least these were not replacement refs! Tisk! Tisk!

There is an article on ESPN.com about the replacement ref who called the fail mary... in which he said he has suffered PTSD and suicidal thoughts over that call.

Boo effing hoo, own your baggage.

I don't think he has any problem with making a bad call but the public humiliation and death threats over a stupid football play are a bit over the top. Put yourself in his shoes and see how well you would have done.

Easy, I would have reviewed the play & made sure the right call was made. It was an obvious Green Bay Interception & if it wasn't obvious during normal play then the replay should have confirmed it. If he makes the correct call then there are no death threats... there are only death threats because he got the call wrong & then refused to admit he was wrong even after watching a replay.

Are referees so intimidated by Seattle fans that they refuse to let them lose at home? Has Seattle become the new San Antonio Spurs?

seriously. it was a football game and the guy was getting death threats. that's ridiculous and I don't blame the guy one bit for having suffered because of it.

One funny part about the article is that the replacement ref was trained by the ref from last night's game. He mentions reaching out to him to offer support.

Pereira says he knows the back judge- the back judge knew the rules- on Softy.

Davis Hsu for those who don't know is possibly the most respected Seattle insider.

Great play by Chancellor there and thats hard to take away from them as a team. I mean clearly he could have downed it, let it roll out, whatever. But the fact that Pereira says he personally knows the ref knew at that time and should have made the call says a lot

No matter what your opinion is though. Seattle made a play when they needed to the most

And no matter what your opinion is, They followed up the play with an obvious penalty that completely changes the game...had it been called.

How many times is Seattle gonna be the benefactor of blown calls?

It's almost like they are trying to make amends for the SB vs Pittsburgh.

See this? 'Blind to the bat' billboards across Detroit

http://www.freep.com/story/sports/nfl/lions/2015/10/06/detroit-lions-billboards/73486820/

Seven billboards cropped up around Metro Detroit on Tuesday, saying: “Blind to the bat,” with an official wearing sunglasses.

It’s a protest to the officials’ non-call of an illegal bat by the Seattle Seahawks’ K.J. Wright on Monday that led to the latest in a string of Detroit Lions’ painful losses.
