KIRKLAND, Wash. (AP) -- Seattle Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander missed the start of a minicamp Friday, and coach Mike Holmgren doesn't expect to see the team's franchise player before the six-day camp ends.

``He told me he wasn't coming in,'' Holmgren said.

Alexander, coming off a franchise record 1,696 yards rushing and 20 touchdowns last season, hasn't signed the $6.3 million franchise tender. Maurice Morris and Kerry Carter got most of the snaps in his absence. Alexander missed the NFL rushing title by one yard last season. Holmgren said he's making plans for Alexander to play when the season starts, but it's still not certain if the six-year veteran will attend training camp. ``I expect Shaun to be with us,'' Holmgren said. ``We have a pretty good running back situation when he's around. We have one now. I like Mo Morris, as I've said before. I like Kerry Carter, too. We have guys who can play.''

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------:biglaugh: Not looking good for Seahags...Although Morris is a good RB just waiting to get his shot. I went to JC in Fresno with this guy and he broke just about every record you can imagine from the RB position...

Maybe I shouldn't be laughing considering the Boldin situation, but I hate Seattle.

Rams bench Faulk, and maybe no Alexander in seattle. This is great for us...

I can't see where Alexander is going to go either...Arizona was an option but its obvious Arrington and Shipp are our workhorses now...Philadelphia maybe if Westbrook continues to hold out...I just don't see many options for him. Of course, the longer he holds out, the better for us.

Arizona was never an option. They would never send Alexander to a div rivial.

Having watched Steven Jackson play quit a bit now, I'm not so stoked about Faulk sitting, I really dont see much drop off with Jackson being in there now.

I agree. I feel that Jackson plays better against our present weahnesses. We still haven't shown that we can stop the run effectively. Martz is just too much of a prima donna for his own good. If he would have kept running Jackson at us in December the score probably would have been a whole lot different than 31-7.
