When taking a look back at the last week of SEC baseball, there were certainly some results that most likely did not see coming.
If you need an example of this occurring, look no further than what took place in Knoxville between the No. 1 ranked Tennessee Volunteers and the struggling Texas A&M Aggies. However, the surprising results did not necessarily stop there either.
The SEC also produced multiple ranked series' this past weekend, some of which were sweeps. This included a set between two of the conference's premier teams, both of which were among the highest-ranked in college baseball entering the weekend.
Here is the latest update of our weekly SEC baseball power rankings, with the records current as of Monday, April 7.
After picking up a pair of midweek wins over UAPB, Missouri however struggled mightily over the weekend in which the Tigers were swept at Arkansas to fall to 11-20 overall, while also remaining as the SEC's lone team without a win in conference play at 0-12. The Tigers were also run-ruled in each game, while also being outscored for a series a combined 51-9, Missouri has now lost three-straight entering a week that includes road games against SIUE and Florida.
After entering the week riding a seven-game losing streak, South Carolina snapped that skid last Tuesday night with a 11-1 win over Presbyterian, and later followed that up over the weekend at Mississippi State with a series loss that saw the Gamecocks take Game 1. For the season, South Carolina is now 19-14 overall, as well as 2-10 in SEC play, as the Gamecocks enter a week that features a home game against USC Upstate and a weekend series on the road at Texas A&M.
After a home win over North Florida to begin the week, the Gators' SEC struggles continued this past weekend as they were swept at home by Vanderbilt in a series where they were outscored a combined 20-5. Florida is now only 1-11 in SEC play, and will also enter this week at 20-14 overall ahead of home matchups with Florida State and Missouri.
Mississippi State began this past week with a road win at Memphis, and then backed that up over the weekend by taking two-of-three at home against South Carolina to win the series.
