Good Job Herb! I believe ASU was picked in the preseason to finish 7th. This is well deserved.

Congrats. Now get into the Big Dance and win a couple games. Or I don't really care. :)

Agreed... incredible accomplishment. A loss to Washington in the Pac-10 tourney will keep them from getting into the Big Dance...

Congrats to Coach Sendek, he's got a nice bonus check coming his way! Lets hope the Devils can get into the big tourney and maybe win a game, that would really help building momentum going into next year.

Good job coach! He did an incredible job this season, a third staight 20-win season. Now he needs to keep the team from stumbling in the Pac-10 tournament. I want another shot at Cal!

They've basically won 22 games without a single blue chip player. How many teams around the country have done that?

:D

True, but there are lots of conferences that are bad every year and their teams don't win 22 games.

Would BYU have as many wins as they do playing in the PAC? Even as bad as the PAC is this year is it worse from top to bottom than the WAC?

Air Force??? Are you kidding me???

Hey, I love Sendek and do believe what he accomplished this season is truly stunning.
But, it has to be said that the Pac-10 is simply terrible this year. Really, really terrible...

Still, if Sendek can get this squad in the Big Show and who knows, win a game or two, it really would be a remarkable performance...

ASU definitely had a terrific year considering their talent, but let's be honest here. BYU first off plays in the MWC which is far superior to the Pac this year and it's probably not even that close. And BYU itself is far superior to ASU, hence the outcome of the game they played in which BYU was leading by 16 at halftime. BYU would probably be 29-5 or 28-6 if they played the eighteen game Pac-10 schedule.

Yeah, I forgot about the MWC. It is the WAC, I don't know what the WAC is. At least I got the Air Force part right.

BYU is good but I don't think they would be better in the PAC. The bottom half of that conference is much worse than the bottom half of the PAC, even this year.

These 2 conferences played a lot this year. I wonder what the head to head would be?

Sure, if you happen to believe that performances over one weekend are more important than performances over three months.

Really?

Beating a ranked opponent in the pit <<< beating a team in tourney

SDSU, one and done
New Mexico, struggled against MONTANA and got pounded by Washington
BYU, barely escaped mediocre FLA team, completely outclassed by KSU

Conversely Washington has looked awesome and Cal is going to give Duke all they can handle.

SDSU destroyed Arizona and was right there on the road with ASU.
New Mexico beat Cal at home and A&M on a neutral court.
BYU destroyed both Arizona schools.
UNLV beat Arizona and Louisville.

If the Pac-10 wanted respect they should've actually beat somebody in November and December when all the other conferences were piling up quality victories. Again - one weekend of success does not make up for three months of ineptitude.

IMO the quality in the PAC from top to bottom is better. Playing a more rigorous conference schedule has prepared Washington and Cal to be successful now.

How come it didn't help ASU and Oregon State in their respective postseason tournaments?

Stanford, Oregon, WSU, Ariz, UCLA, USC >> Colorado State, Utah, TCU, Wyoming, Air Force

ASU, OSU = San Diego State, UNLV

Washington and Cal >> New Mexico and BYU (Right Now)
