Nice mock Mitch. I realy like Fischer after watching him at the SB. I also really like the idea of taking Kyle Long in the second round. Howies boy looks like he would be a very good guard that could also swing out to tackle in a pinch if we needed him. If we could take him in the third that would be a steal.

Nice looking mock to me also but it is based on this game only. A lot more study will go into the actual selection as a mock based on one game is more than just a risk. It is a big time gamble. Maybe these picks also work out as our picks when you look at all the information. I have no idea.

Will we go BPA or crank the need in there also?

1. T Eric Fisher, Central Michigan, 6-7, 305.
2. DT Kawann Short, Purdue, 6-3, 303 or DE/OLB Ezekiel Ansah, BYU, 6-3, 268.
3. LB Zavier Gooden, Missouri, 6-2, 230 or G Larry Warford, Kentucky, 6-3, 332.
4. C Brian Schwenke, California, 6-4, 312.
5. CB Blidi Wreh-Wilson, Connecticut, 6-2, 190.
6. K/P Quinn Sharp, Oklahoma St., 6-1, 205.
6. RB Robbie Rouse, Fresno St., 5-7, 185.
7. WR Connor Vernon, Duke, 6-1, 195.

This draft would have me out of my mind---

Fisher and Schwenke step right in as starters---and potential future Pro Bowlers.

The thought of Short in our DT rotation---if he's taken by #38---how about DE/OLB Ezekiel Ansah? Raw, but man, very gifted.

The thought of Gooden paired with D-Wash---

Love the size and aggressiveness of CB Wilson

Not only is Sharp a great kicker, did any of you see the tackle he made?

Rouse isn't flashy, but he's super productive.

Same with WR Vernon.

Glad to see you have a Kicker in there. These guys are generally after thoughts but in the real world they can decide a game more than most positions.

If we're not sold on Chance Warmack (and I'm completely sold on him), I'd love to trade down for a 2013 1st and 3rd and 2014 2nd and just stock picks to give us flexibility next year. I know that people are trying to talk themselves into this draft class, but it's just not there, when it comes to the pieces we need.

I am sold on Warmack as well, but I am also sold on Jonathan Cooper and don't see a huge difference between the two which is why I might be on board with moving down a couple spots if someone wants to move up for a Fisher, Lane Johnson, Star Lotulelei, D Moore, Werner or Jarvis Jones. Essentially this is a really good draft for depth at some non impact positions(CB, TE, ILB, OG, C) but it could lead to teams being agressive in grabbing the top tier of LT, rush OLB, and rush DE's since their is a limited crop this year.

If we could leave this draft with upgrades at OG, C, ILB, & TE while also adding some picks next year, I would be pretty happy.

I would love to see the Cardinals take a chance on Ansah, but I don't think he falls to us in the 2nd round. I think his ability to move around, and what he COULD be is pretty exciting.

After watching the Senior Bowl practices and game, I can't say that I feel great about any of the QBs. We need to draft one, but I think we will probably have to pass on a better player to do so which will be tough to swallow.
I'm with you. I'm starting to think just take EJ Manuel in round 3 and see if he pans out. Actually, if you look at Manuel's numbers the last 3 years, they are pretty impressive. He's never completed less than 65% of his passes and has a high ypa. My problem is that I have seen him play too many times and almost every time was not impressed.

As for a DL-type in round 2, I'm on board with Datone Smith. The first step quickness he displayed for a guy 6'4 280 was amazing. I try not to get too reactionary to the Senior Bowl practices but that was just something that stood out and couldn't be missed. Plus, that's not something you can teach.

Datone Jones, Okafer, Ansah all could help out, I just really like Ansah's potential (which he might never achieve).

I also agree on QB. The more I see, the more it gets pushed down the draft board which is depressing for me as a fan. I can't say that any player in this class looked as good in college OR workouts as Russell Wilson did last year. Landry Jones, EJ Manuel, Tyler Bray, Tyler Wilson or Ryan Nassib, you might as well wait until round 3 and see who is left because I haven't see anything yet to really seperate any of them. I still prefer Wilson and Nassib, but not as much after seeing their struggles in the Senior Bowl practices throwing the deep ball.

As far as EJ Manuel specifically, he is a tough prospect to get a finger on. He has great numbers and great physical skills. However, most of those numbers have been against crappy programs and I have yet to see him elevate his game against a more talented opponent which is a HUGE concern for. My guess is he will struggle with the adjustment to the pro game due to a lack of work ethic or mental understanding of the game. Manuel was a top recruit out of high school and never fulfilled his promise at the college level. Some of that can be due to poor coaching and a roster lacking talent, but some of it also is contributed to a player's work ethic. Many top high school prospects struggle in college because they have gotten by on physical talent their entire careers and it is hard to learn how to work at the college level. Same goes for the jump to the pros and I believe Manuel will struggle as well.
