2021 - Prove It
I'm gonna break this up by projected rounds (1st, 2nd, 3rd, Mid & Late) this time, and give some reasons that you might want to watch these guys. Again, any body I miss, feel free to add on.
1st Round:
Mike Adams - OT - Ohio St.
-Off the field issues, but has a ton of physical skill. Could be the next OT available when we pick, but most would consider #13 a reach.
Melvin Ingram - DE - South Carolina
-Probably the most interesting player on the board in my opinion. Freakish athlete that could project to a 3-4 OLB despite being 274 lbs. He is the most intriguing player for me this offseason as he looks to be a more athletic Upshaw, that has better pass rush skills, and can rotate across the entire dline.
Courtney Upshaw - OLB - Alabama
-I have been critical about the lack of burst from when I have watched him play, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he is a pretty solid player. There are worse things than having physical outside linebackers, and while I don't love the thought of taking him at #13, we could do worse in my opinion.
2nd Round: (I'm a big advocate of trading down at this point)
Vinny Curry - DE - Marshall
-Another larger OLB projection. Shows good rush ability, and seems natural on his feet. Can't see him moving into the first round, but could be an option if we acquired a 2nd rounder.
Kevin Zeitler - OG - Wisconsin
-Nice player that could be a long term starter. I like his physicality inside. Am interested to see how he does in comparison to some other OGs as this is a very deep class. Might slip to the third round.
Zebrie Sanders - Florida St. - OT
-One of my favorites, and the biggest reason that I would like to trade down in round 1 to acquire a a 2nd rounder. I think that this guy can start in the NFL at an OT position for years and maybe even at LT. I like him as much as Martin or Adams and an pretty sure that he could be had a round later.
Kelechi Osemele - OG - Iowa St.
-A real intersting prospect that player OT in college, but projects more as an NFL OG. If he can demonstrate the athleticism to play both positions, he moght move up into the 1st round.
Billy Winn - DT - Boise St.
-While I don't see it as a very likely situation where we are able to take him, he is a pretty solid 5 technique that might drop. Right now he is projected in the 2nd, but who knows. If he falls, he might be a good valuie later on.
3rd Round:
Matt McCants - UAB - OT
-If we don't take an OT in the 1st round, and don't acquire a 2nd rounder, this is a name to know. Very raw OT prospect that has great athleticism and size. A project, but his potential is as good as Reiff if not better. I really like this guy.
Jeff Allen - OT - Illinois
-This is more of a rankings player than a guy that I have spent a bunch of time watching. Because I doubt that we will be taking an OT in round 1, I wanted to mention him since he could possibly be an option in rond 3.
Mid Rounders:
Tyrone Crawford - DE - Boise St.
-This guy rocked at the East West game, and I am interested to see how he does against better competition. Is a pretty natural rusher, and has size to project to the 5 tech.
Shea McClellin - DE - Boise St.
-More of a OLB projection than DE, but another solid rusher that has versatility. It will be interesting to see his level of athleticism.
DeVier Posey - WR - Ohio St.
-Another rankings player that I believe has good deep speed and might be a fit if the Cards look to upgrade their receiving corp.
Emmanuel Acho - ILB - Texas
-A namesake that might proect to the SILB spot. A bit more limited than his brother, but could be a solid roster guy as a mid to late round pick.
Marvin McNutt - WR - Iowa
-Tremendously physical WR that could take the place of Doucet if the Cards do not resign him. from what I have seen, he seems of an athlete than WR, but I think that he could be a force in the league. Could go in the 3rd round, but I think 4th or 5th is where he will end up.
Some noted cancellations...Kendall Wright, Devon Still, Brandon Mosely, Amini Silatolu & Levy Adcock.
Enjoy.
