Watching Upshaw again just reiterates my opinion that he is not worth a top 20 pick. When he's matched up against a half-way decent Tackle, he disappears, and he doesn't have the speed to make much impact vs. NFL T's. Ingram is faster than Upshaw, and he has a plethora of pass rush moves, but when he's in a team setting he doesn't seem to produce as well as he should. After watching more film on Whitney Mercilus, his upside is extremely high, and he's much quicker/faster than Upshaw/Ingram. After the combine measurables, I can see Mercilus being rated as the top OLB in the draft, with Upshaw's stock falling significantly after he struggles in the 40/20 yard shuttle.

Nick Perry's first step tells me he will go before Mercilus. ;)

Perry and Mercilus are pretty similar, in terms of skill sets. In the end, I think Mercilus will go higher than Perry simply because he has longer arms and slightly better athleticism for his size.

Upshaw will be a top 15 pick. On that I'd bet. Mercilus was a one yr. wonder, he'll take time to develop. His upside AND downside will be greater than Upshaw.

But I don;'t take away too much from these games. The D packages are very vanilla. Gives an advantage to the OL.

You want production; look at the national championship game. Look at the career. Upshaw's solid all around.

I like the kid but its hard to put too much stock in the Senior Bowl because with no Blitzing it gives an unrealistic advantage to the OL. He will be a good one.

That is very fair. The people who scout for a living supposedly put far more emphasis on the practices -- but Adams did have at least two good practice days as well.

No one as long as Russ Grimm is the Offensive line coach. There isn't a guy on the planet who can succeed on our offensive line the way its coached now.[/QUOTE

Do you think Grimm can get anything out of a reach in rd #1 or a rd #3 pick? I don't. I had rather get a Defensive player in rd #1 and let DC Horton coach him up.

I don't think Grimm could get anything out of a guy who wasn't a reach. Why waste a pick on an offensive lineman who will fail. Better to get a defensive player to add to the talented young guys we have now on defense. If they go offense they need to look at WRs who can get open 10 yards downfield in half a second.
