The news about Tron 2 got me thinking about this. Are there any movies out there that you think could produce themes for a good sequel? Which older movies do you think would benefit from a remake?

I was thinking Andromeda Strain would be a good one to revisit in light of 35+ years of new science, but I heard someone's producing a TV mini-series starring Ben Bratt. *groan*

There are several Douglass Coupland books that would have been ideal for adaptations (Microserfs!), but I fear they're culturally irrelevant to today's audience. That's the plight of an author who revels so much in pop culture. Besides the fact his Generation X was raped and pillaged so savagely by marketing execs, that many of his clever phrases (such as McJobs) are now benchmarks for irritation.

What are your wanted sequels, remakes, or adaptations?

I've always wanted to see "Farnham's Freehold" turned into a movie. Talk about stirring the pot.

Andromeda Strain would be my choice

Sequel would be, well the only one that comes to me is 'The Last Starfighter'. I always wanted to know what happen after the Kid and his girl left Earth.

I was thinking earlier today how it might be cool to revisit the Breakfast Club, but only if John Hughes wrote/directed. If that movie was about youthful hope, what would those five misfit 30/40 somethings be like today? There's got to be another message of hope in there.

Oh, hell yeah! A lot of his work would make great movies. Not sure why more haven't been done, other than that they butchered the one they did make.

Starship Troopers was the worst raping of a book that a movie studio has ever committed.

I've still seen it about 50 times. (guilty pleasure)

Remember All The Pretty Horses? What a horrible adaptation to a truly wonderful book. Cormac McCarthy writes such grandiose prose I guess it could be hard to do them justice on the big screen. but I bet Kurasawa could have done it proud. My point is, that I would love to see other McCarthy books given a shot, especially Blood Meridian. McCarthys Border Trilogy would be ripe for a new oldschool style western trilogy.

Sigh.

Ok, I don't make films...but if I did, they'd have a samurai.

Probably my favorite novel growing up as a kid. I would love it.

I was in project Potential as kid and in like 5th grade we read it. I had to do a project about it, and while most kids wrote reports or ddid diaramas, I made an elaborate board game. Youd think Id have grown up a D and D player or fantasy freak, but somehow I grew out of it quickly.

Lets pitch it to the studios, DCR. I smell a producer career coming on!!!!

I did. But I got too high and my 2 story tall toothpick statue of Tweetybird fell apart.

You have no idea. Project Potential is for at risk youths, providing scholarships and assistance. If you didn't know already, I grew up poor. :) In fact, I got a pair of Suns tickets from them in the 6th grade I believe.

I'm game. You think Cheese or Chaplin will help us out?

I still have a BAD video of our skit on how cavemen invented the wheel...wow. I think that was 6th grade...maybe 7th. We kicked butt in the 'rapid-fire' thing we had to do. It was "name a hero" and our team was lined up & we just had to go in succession as fast as we could naming heroes; the more obscure the more points. Once we got off of superheroes & started with firemen, doctors, parents, etc., we kicked some booty. Can't believe I remember all that still.

Not where me & schutd come from. In our OLD PEOPLE world, it was kinda like an advanced class separate from the rest of your classes where the smart geeky kids went. Economic status was irrelevant.
