Jeff Blake, Emmitt Smith, and Dexter Jackson need to be on the list.

Emmitt Smith? C'mon, dude damn near broke 1000 yards and gave more to the Cards than the last 10 FAs before him.

You have to give him credit for that, but by signing him we passed on guys like Willis McGahee in the draft. I liked Emmitt, but he was at the end of his career and he ended up becoming a short-term band-aid when what we really needed was to groom our own long-term solution.

That's fair. Emmitt was a band-aid, but calling him a bad FA pickup is a little unfair.

On the flipside, can you imagine if the Cardinals had taken a then-injured McGahee over Pace or BJ? It would have been pandemonium.

Okay, in an effort to be fair, I take it back.:raccoon:

But we could have selected both BJ & McGahee + Boldin in the second. Imagine that line up the last several years.

And if I recall correctly, it was pandemonium when we did what we did. The ruckus would have been the same, except we would have been right, instead of being stupid. It is because of this draft that I can never find it in my heart to defend Graves.

Except if Willis McGahee had come here he wouldn't have been worth a damn with our line in front of him. Other than that small problem, it would've been a smart pick.

Better than Pace, who isn't worth a damn period.

So far it sure looks like OLB is not the spot for Pace. I'd still like to see him given a shot at LDE, I've believed from day 1 he's better suited to play that side, and Okeafor sure looks to me like a guy who could benefit from rotating at this point in his career. I think Pace is just struggling with the coverage aspects of LB, when he gets to rush the passer he is quite aggressive, but when he has to drop into coverage he's lost.

Hopefully third position is the charm, but I doubt it. This is his fourth year in the NFL and he stayed all four years of college and he still cannot get plays in front of a guy who sat on his ass complaining all offseason in Dansby and an absolutely horrible tackler and career non-playmaker in Huff. Not to mention his bye week drunken wrestling and the loser talk in the locker room.

Guys like him, Big, and whoever else is left from the DG and Mac eras that seem okay with mediocrity and losing need to go this offseason along with Dumb and Dumber (Green and Graves).
