The guy just doesn't get enough props... Heard him on MJ and Bickley yesterday and he's such a solid guy. Could've gone elsewhere. Had plenty of people barking in his ear about the trials and tribulations with this franchise. Yet, he remains incredibly optimistic. Said last season was the most fun he's ever had in the NHL. Feels the team entering this season is now ready to move to the next level!

The guy should be considered one of the top valley stars... right up there with Fitz.

I am a huge supporter of keeping the team in town, but I must admit, my passion on the subject would have been tempered a bit if Doan had left town. I know he won't be around forever, but if the idiots in Glendale chased him off, I'd be ticked.

Actually, based on his comments yesterday, I'd be shocked if he ended up going somewhere else... He seems to love it here and, if I read his comments right, I think he'll retire as a Coyote... ;)

Exactly. So if he did leave, someone would have almost literally had to have pushed him out the door. And I would not be okay with that.

I merged the threads and kept 82's title since Doan hasn't technically signed the paper yet.

How awesome is it to see someone spend their entire career with one team. So unappreciated in Phoenix.

Wholeheartedly agree, 82! Sadly, I don't think he'll be with us much longer. I hope I'm wrong, but I'll feel no ill will towards the man whatsoever and will root for him wherever he ends up.

i highly doubt there will be one at that time - puts Doan in a bad situation

just too much noise going on with Glendale losing the appeal on the sales tax initiative (they are now taking the stance that the proposition cannot be retroactive - not sure the legal backing on their stance though)

Glendale also just lost their appeal on the tribal casino

Glendale threw a slew of proposed amendments at Jamison - they need to be careful or the whole process could reset

the owners, betman and daly are tied up with the CBA

the CBA could have a big impact on Jamison - which may play into his negotiations on the asked for glendale amendments

just a big soup of mess

Per Gambo:

It is down two - Phoenix and Vancouver. Coyotes Captain Shane Doan will sign a contract deciding where he will play by 5 pm NY time Friday

Hockey is my least favorite of the major sports, but Doaner is probably my most respected of all local athletes.

The guy is everything you could ask for in terms of heart, guts, determination, loyalty, hard work, etc.

There are very few people you can point to as real leaders, and Shane Doan is undoubtedly a leader.

Our market is pretty spoiled. We've been able to watch Doaner, Fitz, and Steve Nash work their wonders competitively and in the community. How lucky are we?

You know, I've never really thought about it that way. You're completely right.
