Vikings free agent cornerback Shaq Griffin is set to visit the Seahawks as the team continues to work through the offseason that sees them looking at an overhaul at their cornerback position. The team relied on a lot of veterans last year, especially down the stretch as the team made it's late season push for the one seed in the NFC.
Will Ragatz of Sports Illustrated pointed out that if Griffin leaves the Vikings for the Seahawks, it would be good and bad news for Minnesota. Of course, the Vikings would be losing another cornerback to a group that is struggling to retain its veteran players.
Despite that negative he does point out a positive saying, "Griffin could potentially provide a clearer path to a third extra selection for Minnesota in 2026. If he signs with the Seahawks before this year's draft for at least $4 million or so, that should be enough to qualify him as a compensatory free agent (CFA)."
The Vikings are already poised to receive two compensatory picks in 2026 thanks to Sam Darnold and Cam Robinson leaving and signing big contracts. If they got one from Griffin, then they would be one of the teams with the most picks in 2026, with that comes added flexibility to move up and down the board.
