Yeah, there were too many smiles on the court when that game ended. Their season was just ended!

Very disturbing as a Suns fan to read about how Shaq and majority of Suns team were out partying before and after "the world cup" game of the season.

Maybe they really didn't care:(

Absolutely not Surprised. B-ball players out the night before a big game happens across the entire NBA. It shouldn't but it does. A couple of my buddies are bouncers for certain bars in Phoenix (one is a part time cop). I can tell you this crap happens all the time. He sees Lakers, Celts, Knicks, Spurs..you name it (when these guys are in town). They have seen them all at one point or another out the night before a big game (sometimes really late). This is not isolated to basketball players either.

In terms of the Shaq wanting out of here....Absolutely not Shocking. I would too if the Suns plan on rebuilding. Why would he not want out of here? At this stage of his career, he wants to play for a contender and I don't blame him. If Nash and Grant Hill follow right behind him that is understandable too.

Well, I wouldn't mind if there is any doable deal. Dampier has 2 years left. No way we take him. So, the only deal appears to be Shaq for Howard/Stack. It's ok if Stack could be bought out for 2mil as reported. The deal would save 16mil for us.

There is really nobody that would be good fit on this team from Dallas. Just say no to Josh Howard. If this is our only trade option, I'd rather just wait until his contract expires and go get a free agent.

But realistically, most of the NBA games are at night. A young guy partying until 2am when his next game is 18 hours away isn't that unreasonable, is it?
I know we would like to think all these guys would be focused on the next game, but we have all been in our young 20s and we weren't always focused on work.

Personally, I think if this is what your do for a living, being out until 4 AM partying is pretty stupid. If your drinking and not getting any sleep, I guarantee your body won't recover in time for a game.

The radio said they were at the club well past 1 am, with the 2:30 pm tipoff the next day.

I agree with you, but most of these guys are in their young 20s. How many of us were smart enough to do what was responsible at that age? And we didn't have their money either.

I was just trying to add another point of view.

Partying before a midday game is stupid, but if a young guy doesn't have to play until 7pm the next night, it's not as big a deal IMO. They also have huge egos which tell them they can kick ass even when they are not at 100%.

I can't even have a couple of beers on Sunday night because of how it impacts me on Monday morning. Of course I'm a lot older than some of these guys and I used to be able to close the bar and ace a mid-term the next day

Shaq to <insert team name here>. Be prepared to hear this article about four times over during the offseason. The reality is that he won't go anywhere, no matter how bad we want him and his inflated salary gone to help begin the rebuilding process.

There is an article at azcentral about rumors of Shaq possibly going to Dallas written by Paul Young dated 4-7-09. Here is an interesting quote if it has not already been repeated in the other article.

"There are two types of business owners," O'Neal said. "Do you want to win or do you want to save money? Period."

He said he didn't know which camp Suns owner Robert Sarver sleeps in, but Cuban spends money.

I think Shaq has now written his ticket to Dallas.

Shaq is one of those guys who think the grass is always greener on the other side. He never seems to be content in any situation after a year or two. It's only because Shaq is so feared that he isn't held accountable for all the whining he does. The guy is hilarious and entertaining, but his quotes are just as funny when he is playing for someone else and that's what I would prefer at this point. Get him out of here.

I was thinking under the NBA salary cap, the Suns could make such a trade when their season ends. The same applies to Dallas. Phoenix is near elimination and Dallas does not look like a team going to make a long run in the playoffs, so such a trade might not be that far down the line.

Or everyone could be over analyzing this. Shaq is like friends with everybody in the NBA, who cares how he spent an off day or the fact that he "hung" out with Cuban. It doesn't imply he is going to Dallas or anything, people look away into things too much.

Dallas already pays Eric Dampier $11 million a year. If they got Shaq, they would have $31 million dollars tied up in 2 aged Centers that perform way under their contract.

Lets not forget though, that Jason Kidd's $21 Million dollar a year deal comes off of Dallas books at the end of the season. They're going to be one of the few teams that can afford to take on Shaq if they want him.

Andrew,

I know you are a huge Shaq fan and that is fine, but can you admit to the fact that Shaq has a history of being unhappy in each situation and always thinks the grass is greener elsewhere? Shaq is hilarious, entertaining, and possibly the most dominating player to ever play his position, but Shaq can also be a whiner, rarely holds himself accountable, and tends to point fingers at everyone else but himself.

I am not refuting how Shaq is, all I am saying is all of this information is based off vague comments Shaq and Cuban made to eachother on a website. Nothing more, everyone is looking for things that might not possibly be there, that is all.

I agree this could all be an overreaction and a bit dramatic, but Shaq's track record for wanting change is what helps give these kind of things so much momentum.
