Interesting fact about Shaq: He is the only player from his draft class (1992) still playing in the NBA. Robert Horry and Alonzo Mourning were the only one's close.

If you look at the next year (1993), only Lindsey Hunter is still playing.

I know it's not uncommon for big men to play longer than smaller players, but Shaq's production at his age is quite remarkable.

I guess all the tanking 1/4 to 1/3 of the seasons, refusing to work out or have surgery in the off seasons, and choosing not to represent the country in the olympics has paid off! :D

Dude got his gold metal already, before the US got cocky and had to redeem themselves this year.

Andrew already pointed out O'Neal's Olympic gold medal, but Shaq also represented the United States in the 1994 World Championship. The USA won that tournament and Shaq was tournament MVP.

And exactly how does Andrews and your comments invalidate mine? Shaq was asked in 2000, 2004, and 2008 and turned them down.

Just offering counter-arguments to your sour grapes inference that O'Neal never represented his country on the court. Pretty simple actually. :D

Here we go again. Troll alert. Sour grapes alert.

Sour grapes? Over what?

My team is the fave to win it all and Shaq didn't get you past the first round last year or even in the playoffs this year. Wait till you see what is comming this offseason from him! I guess if you classify "I told you so" as sour grapes, then you are correct! :D

As for my comments on this thread. If indeed that's what you are commenting on.

1. Tanking portions of many seasons.... fact.
2. Refusing to work out or have surgeries in off seasons.... fact
3. Turning down requests from USA Basketball.... fact

BTW.... thanks!!!! I bet a friend 50 bucks you would pop in and throw out the obligatory "troll" comment. His quote. "Come on, Why would anybody care? Nobody can be that sensitive."

The sensitive comment was reflective of the bet... ie... that Steel would be the one... as he just cant let any of my posts go. I tend to bother him. It's all good. 50 bucks is 50 bucks. :D

I wasnt refuting the fact that youre friend said that. I was commenting on the quality of people you hang out with :) That's a pretty stupid bet.

And it's not that you tend to bother Steel. It's that you enjoy it, and Steel is intolerant of such bottom dwelling activities, which I don't see as a fault except for the mantra of "Don't argue with idiots, onlookers won't be able to tell the difference."

I guess I answered my own bewilderment about the friends you hang out with...

Actually, I have probably commented on a small fraction of the trolls total posts. I would hardly call that intolerant and hardly anything he posts can be taken seriously anyway. Also, if you notice I didn't directly comment on anything the troll said. I was merely doing the obligatory troll alert like I do when I come across any of these idiots. If I happen to be around when the troll posts, knocking him down a few notches on the troll poll is no sweat off my back.

I am not sure what is worse. The I.Q. of his friends, the fact that he cared enough about me that he would place a bet based on my responses or the fact that he thinks that anything he says is even phases me in the slightest. It's fun. Nothing more.

I guess I answered my own bewilderment about the friends you hang out with...

:lmao:

You are 100% correct. I do enjoy it. And I am so glad you can determine the quality of a person based on one comment on a public forum. Nice skills!

The whole troll thing is quite hillarious actually. Nice bottom dwelling comment! I'm proud of you! I suppose all you who pull the troll card would prefer everyone always agree with you. I don't like Shaq. It's well known and regardless of the validity of any of my comments, it's simply easier to spew the troll comment rather than actually make a counter point. If you can't attack the topic, attack the person, or in your case the person's friend who you know nothing about. Brilliant!!!

So if you don't like Shaq, was it torture for you to see the Lakers win the championship 3 straight times mainly because of O'Neal?

not this argument again, please. Shaq couldn't have led the lakers to the titles without Kobe, nor Kobe without Shaq. Shaq did it with wade, and Kobe may very well do it with Gasol (and got close last year). Give the "shaq won the lakers their titles" argument a rest.
