I already posted about the Suns allowing Shavlik Randolph's contract to become guaranteed. Just thought he deserved his own thread because he remains a member of the Suns.

See more from Paul Coro article at azcentral dated 7-17-14.

As the day passed with no action, Randolph's 2014-15 salary of $1.23 million became guaranteed.

Randolph,30, signed with the Suns on March 2 but they could have waived him by Thursday with no money owed to him. Channing Frye's departure and Alex Len's broken finger reinforced the Suns' need for frontcourt depth and size beyond the free agency addition of power forward Anthony Tolliver.

I must admit that I thought the Suns would make more impressive changes at the 4/5 although I think Tolliver is a bargain.

If he can beat out Tolliver I'll be happy... I'd rather have Shavlik's rebounding than Tolliver's 3 pt shooting on a regular basis.

Wtf other than sucking, name one thing he's better than Plumlee at.

Randolph is supposed be nothing but another version of Lou Amundson. Plumlee while he regressed after the hot start last season is still way better than Randolph.

Every team should have a 3rd Center, a legitimate Center, in reserve. Ready to step in as #2 when necessary.

If he turns out to be a better fit (perhaps in certain circumstances) than either #1 or #2, so be it.

But the main purpose is to be strength in reserve. And a major benefit is that it gives the Coach motivation to not be so quick to move Power Forwards to Center and Small Forwards to Power Forward when going up against teams that do not play that way.

I feel the same way about the Point Guard position. Every team should have a third in reserve. Just not playing at the same time. :) Which is why I will be glad to see Bledsoe move on, despite his solid defense.

Best job in the world--NBA 13th man. Get paid a million dollars a year to watch the best game in the world from the best seat in the house. Travel all over the US. Stay in the nicest hotels, and get a per diem to boot.

Do a little investing, maybe some stock trading on the side just for fun.

I remember when Mark West was at the end of his career and some team offeried him an NBA minimum deal. He was already working as a stock broker. In the interview he said his wife said, "Get paid a million dollars to sit on the end of a bench? I'll kill you if you don't take that job."
