There is no way to overstate this. This may be one of the 5 worst trades of the modern era. If Swanson becomes an All Star the Dbacks will be the punch line in that joke for the next 15 years.Colossal disappointment.

I can see Swanson being an All Star. There is no way to overstate this. This may be one of the 5 worst trades of the modern era. If Swanson becomes an All Star the Dbacks will be the punch line in that joke for the next 15 years.

Miller is not worth an even trade for either Ender Inciarte or Dansby Swanson. Instead of 38-52 after 90 games, the Dbacks would be 52-38 if Pollock were healthy and Miller had an ERA of 3.50.

At least now management is admitting they may have made a mistake....we know they made a mistake. If they were going to trade that kind of package maybe they should have targeted a better SP than Miller or if they would have went out and sprung for a better bullpen (closer to be specific) maybe we'd be in a better situation...I was hoping ARZ would have made a deal for K-Rod who is having a great year for DET.
Miller's history shows that he should be a solid #2. So I can see why the Dbacks made the trade. Even if they gave up too much.
But this looks like it could be a case of a player just completely losing it. Which it hopefully isn't. All you can do is keep him in the minors and hope he comes back strong next year. (As the #4 or #5. Less expectations.) If the wheels fall off again you just cut your losses, accept that it was a horrible trade, and take the inevitable / deserved punishment from the media.
http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/...strong-results-with-refreshed-attitude-022017Only one man can save the trade for the DBacks, and that man showed up at camp with a smiling face, confident demeanor and ripped physique at age 26.
Remember Shelby Miller?
The DBacks control him for three more seasons, and I’m going to take an educated guess and predict that they will not regret it.
You read it here first: Miller will be a quality major-league pitcher again. Maybe not the No. 2 starter that Stewart envisioned. But someone closer to the guy who had a 3.27 ERA in 95 starts between 2013 and ’15.
